Comedian Russell Howard has been announced as the latest act to join the line up for the HILARITY CHARITY GALA in aid of Central Youth Theatre at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre on Monday 8 June.

Russell has been a regular panellist on Mock the Week and has also appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie To You?, Live at the Apollo, Law of the Playground and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

The line up for the evening of comedy includes the previously announced Greg Davies (The Inbetweeners, Man Down, Cuckoo), Katherine Ryan (Mock The Week, Live At The Apollo), Elis James (BBC Three's Crims), Lazy Susan and Wolverhampton's own Pappy's. The evening will be compered by Daniel Kitson with a surprise TV guest star to be announced on the evening.

The evening supports Central Youth Theatre (CYT), founded by Jane Ward 30 years ago. The initiative quickly established a charitable status for the group with the idea of keeping the group affordable for all young people. Over the years Jane has created an extraordinary range of opportunities for thousands of young people. Last year Jane was awarded an MBE by the Queen for her services to Drama and the Community of Wolverhampton.

Despite the successes and Jane's dedication, CYT had its funding withdrawn by the City Council last year. This year's gala is aiming to raise funds to help the youth theatre secure its future by moving to new premises right opposite the Grand Theatre in the heart of the City.

Former member, British Soul Queen and now West End star Beverley Knight said: "I was a member of The Central Youth Theatre as a child and it played direct part in preparing me for my West End roles as well as my career in music." In support, Knight has donated two pairs of tickets that are being given away on the Grand Theatre's Facebook and Twitter pages - the competition ends on Friday 5 June.

Tickets are selling fast for Monday's gala at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, priced between £16 - £21. To book call 01902 42 92 12 or visit the website grandtheatre.co.uk.
