Written by Catherine Hurd with music by Vatrena King, ZUCCOTTI PARK, a musical about the human side of economics will be directed and choreographed by Luis Salgado, who is currently performing in Broadway's On Your Feet, the musical that follows Gloria and Emilio Estefans' journey to superstardom.

Previously ZUCCOTTI PARK won Best Direction by Salgado and second place as best musical at the Venus/Adonis NYC Theater Festival in 2015 where it broke festival box office records.

"There is nothing like the on-going evolution of a project, and festivals like the Fringe that provides writers with the opportunity to further explore their work while a community of artists explores the craft we love." said Salgado when asked about the festival. "Some of the logistics become a challenge but it is very rewarding to commit to the challenge of creating something new while also performing in a show every night." he concluded.

The New York International Fringe Festival is celebrating its 20th Anniversary, August 12th - 28th, 2016 with programming from 200 of the world's best emerging artists in 16 venues across downtown Manhattan. Plays, Musicals, Dance, Puppets, Multi-Media and More.

Set at its namesake location in New York City during the Occupy protests of late 2011, Zuccotti Park dramatizes the experiences of a broad cross section of Americans whose lives have been impacted by the current economic system. "We learn the stories of the protesters through the eyes of Sergeant William Cooper who has taken leave after eight years of war to visit childhood friend, Kate, in NYC" said Catherine Hurd who most recently wrote the play Until Death do us Part.

"As a director it is fun to work on a piece that opens our eyes to awareness and inspires action. The score is so versatile, as we get to explore each character we also explore the sounds of American pop, rock, gospel, are just some of the motives behind the story and its characters." - Luis Salgado
