Berkshire Opera Festival to Offer Free Concert, 7/29

Berkshire Opera Festival (BOF) is offering its first musical event in the Berkshires at 7:30pm on Wednesday, July 29 at Ventfort Hall in Lenox. General Director Jonathon Loy and Artistic Director Brian Garman, co-founders of the company, will present this free concert featuring some of opera's greatest arias and ensembles as a prelude to the company's inaugural season in summer 2016. The concert will be headlined by soprano Caroline Worra, tenor Cody Austin, and baritone Kyle Pfortmiller. These three artists perform regularly at opera companies around the country, including The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, the Glimmerglass Festival, Opera Philadelphia, and Dallas Opera.

"I'm excited to introduce Berkshire Opera Festival, and to show some of what the company has to offer. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a long relationship with the Berkshire public, and the fact that this concert has essentially sold out in only two weeks is a clear indication of people's desire to have great opera here again," General Director Jonathon Loy remarked. Artistic Director Brian Garman added, "Showcasing the highest caliber of talent is central to BOF's focus, and I'm thrilled that our audience will be able to sample a bit of what's to come in future seasons." A cash bar will be available at the event, and BOF invites attendees to stay after the concert for a short interactive discussion about the company and its long-term plans.

Only a very small number of seats remain for this free concert, but the company has created a waiting list and potential audience members may request to add their names to it.
