Blackfriars Theatre continues its 65th Season with Herb Gardner's compelling comedy I'm Not Rappaport! Nat Moyer, a feisty Jewish retiree with a tendency to exaggerate, and elderly Midge Carter, a half-blind African-American building superintendent spend their afternoons sharing a park bench and a relationship based on playful verbal sparring. These appealing seniors humorously take on the world and its many threats, including society's treatment of the aging, the difficulties dealing with adult children who think they know what's best for their parents, and the dangers that lurk in urban areas.

"In keeping with last year's successful production of Lanford Wilson's The Hot L Baltimore , I am delighted to bring to Rochester another American classic by an equally important American playwright, Herb Gardner," says John Haldoupis, Blackfriars Artistic Director and the shows director. "This Tony Award winning BEST PLAY is a beautifully written exploration about friendship and aging with great characters and lots of laughs. Being the last straight play I will direct, it is fitting the show also features a stunning park setting , something that as a designer excites and challenges me. Look for all the stops to be pulled out on this one!"

The cast stars local powerhouse talent and favorites Fred Nuernberg as Nat and Reuben J. Tapp as Midge with Dave Andreatta as Danforth, Ruth Bellavia as Clara, Ron Heerkens Jr. as Gilley, Adam Petzold as Cowboy and Christina Simmons as Laurie.
