Bart Shatto to Bring 'HEROES, VILLAINS AND DREAMERS to Downstairs Cabaret Theatre

Downstairs Cabaret Theatre is proud to announce a limited engagement featuring Broadway veteran Bart Shatto (Broadway: Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, Lincoln in The Civil War, 10-year featured vocalist in Trans-Siberian Orchestra), April 28-May 1, 2016.

Bart Shatto: Back to Broadway - Heroes, Villains and Dreamers dazzles audiences with some of Broadway's most memorable moments. Laced with stories from his life and interspersed with his powerful soaring tenor, this promises to be a fun, nostalgic event audiences won't soon forget. Selections include "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, "Master of the House" from Les Miserables, "This is the Moment" from Jekyll & Hyde, "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables, and "The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha, among two dozen others.

The show will be laced with stories from Bart's life, including growing up in a small Midwestern town (population 850), touring with the largest symphonic multi-million dollar rock band in the country, and marrying a Jewish psychologist who has a penchant for black German Shepherds and a flair for the eccentric.

Renowned for his portrayal of a schizophrenic homeless man singing "Old City Bar" with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (with whom he has toured for the past 10 years), Bart Shatto has an extensive resume. Born in Illinois, Bart studied theatre and mass communications at Western Illinois University and Southern Illinois University. While working at Holland American Cruise Lines he was invited by Jim Caruso to join the cast of "Wiseguys." After his year run with "Wiseguys," Bart decided to pursue a theatrical career, landing roles such as "Gus / Growltiger" in the National Tour of Cats, "Lincoln" in The Civil War on Broadway, and "Jean Vajean" in Les Miserables on Broadway and the National Tour. Most recently, he appeared on Broadway in the new musical Hands on a Hardbody. Film work includes a role in the feature film "Freedom" starring Cuba Gooding, Jr.

Performances of Bart Shatto: Back to Broadway will take place at Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, 20 Windsor Street, downtown Rochester: Thursday, April 28 at 7:00pm; Friday, April 29 at 8:00pm; Saturday, April 30 at 8:00pm; and Sunday, May 1 at 2:00pm. Convenient free parking is available. General admission ticket prices are $26 to $29, depending on performance time (discounts are available for selected performances for seniors age 60+; groups of 10+; full-time students; military personnel; and current DCT members).
