Ennio Morricone Conducts His Greatest Works at Barclays Center, March 23, 2014

Barclays Center, Brooklyn's premier showcase for the world's most thrilling entertainment and sports events, and Massimo Gallotta Productions are proud to announce a one-night-only concert on March 23, 2014, featuring the music of the legendary Ennio Morricone, as conducted by the Maestro himself.

This rare performance will mark the first time Morricone has taken the podium on the US east coast since his 2007 Radio City Music Hall NYC debut. Morricone will be accompanied by a 200 member orchestra and choir revisiting the vast and classic repertoire of this revered composer.

Ennio Morricone is only scheduled to play one other North American performance in 2014, in his first ever US west coast show, in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater on March 20.

Tickets for Morricone's March 23 NYC show will go on sale to the general public via TicketMaster on October 25 at 10:00am.

ENNIO MORRICONE was born in Rome on November 10, 1928. His long artistic career includes music created for a wide range of composition genres, from absolute music to applied music, working as orchestrator as well as conductor in the recording field for theatre, radio and cinema. He became famous worldwide with his renowned scores for director Sergio Leone's westerns: A Fistful Of Dollars (1964), For A Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (1966), Once Upon A Time In The West (1968) and A Fistful Of Dynamite (1971). Since 1960, Morricone has scored over 450 films, working with dozens of renowned Italian and international directors including Leone, Gillo Pontecorvo, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Bernardo Bertolucci, Giuliano Montaldo, Lina Wertmuller, Giuseppe Tornatore, Brian De Palma, Roman Polanski, Warren Beatty, Adrian Lyne, Oliver Stone, Margarethe Von Trotta, Henry Verneuil, Pedro Almodovar and Roland Joffè. His most famous film scores include those for The Battle of Algiers, Sacco and Vanzetti, Cinema Paradiso, The Legend of 1900, Malena, The Untouchables, Once Upon A Time in America, The Mission, U-Turn, The Unknown Woman, and The Best Offer. His absolute music production includes over 100 pieces composed since 1946 to today, including Concerto per Orchestra n.1 (1957), Frammenti di Eros (1985), Cantata per L'Europa (1988), UT, per tromba, archi e percussioni (1991), Ombra di Lontana Presenza (1997), Voci dal Silenzio (2002), Sicilo ed altri Frammenti (2006), Vuoto D'Anima Piena (2008), and Una Messa (2013).

In 2001, Ennio Morricone began intense live concert activity, conducting his film music and concert works for symphony orchestra and polyphonic choir at more than 100 concerts across Europe, Asia, USA, Central and South America. In his long career, Ennio Morricone has received prodigious awards and recognition, including 11 Nastri D'argento (Silver Ribbons), 4 Baftas, 5 Oscar Nominations, 10 David Di Donatello, 3 Golden Globes, 1 Grammy Award, 1 European Film Award, 1 Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement and the Honorary Oscar. In 2009, the President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, signed a decree appointing M° Ennio Morricone the rank of Knight in the Order of the Legion of Honor. In the recording field, Morricone has earned 27 Golden Records and 7 Platinum Records. The soundtrack from the film The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was included in the list of inductees for the Grammy Hall of Fame for 2009. In 2010 he was awarded with the Polar Music Prize. Since 1996, Ennio Morricone is a Standing Academic Auditor of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia.
