Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs, will present three Fair Verona Festivals, free open-air, family-friendly community arts days, on July 10, 11 and 17. Each festival will feature workshops and performances by local artists in dance, music, visual artists plus a performance of CSC2's Romeo & Juliet, which recently performed for a week at Boston's Historic Strand Theater.

Community members who attend Fair Verona Festivals will receive a special invitation to enjoy King Lear at Free Shakespeare on the Common (July 22 - August 9) from the Friends Section. For more information about Fair Verona Festivals or Shakespeare OFF the Common, contact CSC's Community Engagement Coordinator Marissa Friedman at mfriedman@commshakes.org or visit www.commshakes.org.

"Since 2011, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston has been proud to partner with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company to not only educate our members about Shakespeare, but also inspire creativity within them. We have had a positive experience working with their talented and professional staff and look forward to hosting free outdoor summer Shakespeare events at our Clubs in Dorchester and Roxbury," said Josh Kraft, Nicholas President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. "Our members and their families who live in these underserved neighborhoods often lack access to the performing arts. We are thankful that Commonwealth Shakespeare Company shares our belief that everyone should have access to the arts. Our collective hope is that these free performances will help to improve their quality of life and become a source of community pride, promote understanding of other people and different ways of life, help preserve and share cultural heritage, provide opportunities to socialize, and contribute to lifelong learning.

Shakespeare OFF the Common is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts "Our Town" grant program. Special thanks to our partners and sponsors: City of Boston, Xfinity, The Boston Foundation, The Dorchester Reporter, Delta Dental, Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770, Massachusetts Cultural Council, and Boston Park & Recreation.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is dedicated to bringing the works of William Shakespeare in vital and contemporary productions to the people of Boston and to exploring Shakespeare's plays with the Boston community in innovative and creative ways. The Company fulfills its educational mission with training programs for both pre-professional actors through its Apprentice Program and early-career actors through CSC2.
