Looking @ Equus for example, you pay $ 116.50 for Mezzanine seating rows f/h . Rows j/l are $ 66.50 .

You pay $50 less to sit 1 row back from a seat for $ 116.50. It is virtually the same seat for $ 50 less.

Unfortunately, some shows do this; however, the price gap between the two rows is quite large. [I had a sad face here, but it was preventing me from posting.]

it's amazing how people don't catch onto that though... whenever i buy tix to shows here in san diego or in los angeles... i always know where the cutoff rows are at any theater i go to... i've sat in seats where the person in front of me paid like 20 to 50 dollars more!

Well, they have to "draw the line" somewhere. They don't want to drive their b.o. nuts by having sliding scale of seat prices.

I think pricing in GENERAL has gotten out of control. You would think with this economy, they'd pull down the prices -- even if its only 20 bucks or so less per ticket -- and make a big deal of it. What a great marketing plan!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I agree. Like, I just bought rear balcony tickets to Spamalot, and they were only $36.50, but I know the rows in front of me were $76.50. That just seems high for balcony seats too.

Then buy a seat in row J.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Though there's a couple of theatres in London that do have a graduated seating price plan which is kinda neat and more fair.

Spring Awakening's pricing plan is almost crazy to look at but every seat and row is a little different than the next and kind of makes sense.

https://www.purchase-tickets-online.co.uk/peo22127/hall.asp (click on Stalls if it doesnt automatically pop up). It's like a Light Bright panel!

The Almeida theatre does this too.

I get frustrated....how can the entire Orchestra level be worth $117 for a show?

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

Well folks, this also plays into the "Executive seats" or whatever they are called where people buy tickets from the ticket brokers and yes, the couple next to you could have paid $250 for a seat! Or the sellers on stubhub selling a ticket for $300+ a pop!

I once heard someone describe her (Ruthie Henshall) singing as sounding as though she's trying to swallow a whole meatball slightly larger than her windpipe. (The same person compared Michael Ball's singing to sounding as though he's sitting on a washing machine on spin cycle and Colm Wilkinson's to a man with a paralyzed lip trying to eat cottage cheese.) --- Schmerg_The_Impaler

boonanas, this is what happened when I saw Equus in previews... literally, like 10 empty rows and I think people from the on-stage either left or moved up there!

I just came back from the O'Neill thinking I could get a cheap ticket for Spring Awakening... nope, 65.50 for the last row in the mezzanine! But hey, it was the aisle seat!!

I was extremely disappointed when I purchased Loge seats for South Pacific in Row C and then looked at the price list a few minutes later and realized the row behind was $50 cheaper. With the 6 tickets we bought, we would have saved a LOT of money. I learned my lesson there.
