Divine Performing Arts

is an exhilarating world-class production that celebrates the pure excellence and grandeur of classical Chinese dance and music inspired by the myths, legends, and divine beauty of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.

Five Thousand Years In One Exhilarating Show -
China was once known as "Shen Zhou" or "Land of the Divine," as people once believed Chinese culture to be a gift from the heavens. Virtue and piety were emphasized in daily life. Sadly, though, over time much of this great culture has been lost.

Divine Performing Arts Based in New York is reviving the long-lost treasures of China by presenting a series of original performances across the globe. Its shows transport audiences to a land of beauty and enchantment, leaving them uplifted and inspired.

The performances combine ancient technique with modern technology. Involving hundreds of talented dancers and musicians, original scores, live orchestra, and custom-designed digital backdrops, these pieces of artistry delight the senses, touch the heart, and move the soul.

This culture renaissance centering on classical themes and Chinese traditions that define "beauty" and "compassion", is to restore the essence of authentic Chinese traditional "virtue" and "value" and bring its true spirit to magnificent life, free of any distortions from the Communist Party. The content of all programs is expressed in Chinese, English, and local languages.

In the past several years, the shows by Divine Performing Arts are getting more and more popular and welcomed by live audiendecs around the world. In 2008 Divine Performing Arts dazzled over 600,000 live audience members in more than 60 cities on four continents.

“The performances are inspired, the costumes and scenery enchanting, and the show as a whole a delight to experience. And besides its professional excellence, the Spectacular exudes a wonderfully positive karma. These beautiful, gifted people are expressing something that’s both pure and good.”
– Philadelphia Weekly

“Superb! Every performance was stunning.”
– WNYC

“The Spectacular was a spectacle from its very first moment… an array of diverse and delightful dances… eye-pleasing formations, flowing arms, small, scampering steps and serene, seemingly divinely inspired faces… each and every Spectacular costume was just that, incorporating a brightly colored, beautiful range of fabrics as well as intricate headpieces… left its audience with the tranquil sensation of having witnessed something both enlightening and resplendent.”
– ExploreDance

“Mission accomplished! It was a tantalizing and fascinating evening that made me want to stay and see more. In a word, I was simply captivated… colorful and lively theatrical presentation... motion pictures and drums and elegant dance and singing that gave a glimpse of a culture and its history that was at times hypnotic in its presentation, sensual in its fluid movements, and inspirational in its theme… marvelous precision dragon dances, stunning [dance] sequences comprised of silken young girls in colorful outfits who were gifted with graceful movement, and flawless musical performances… simply astounding to watch and a pleasure to the ear.”
– OperaOnline

“An extravagantly beautiful production… Lavish production numbers, colorful sets, dazzling costumes, brilliant choreography, and booming Tang dynasty drums.”
– BroadwayWorld.com

“Indisputably a spectacle… The women, meanwhile, make for a beautiful and haunting ensemble. They are as delicate as they are quick, and their skills include a nimble mastery of traditional talents, such as the classic fan dance... some of the most jaw-dropping moments came from the thunderous intensity of a solo pianist named Yan Li.”
– Chicago Tribune

“Boasts an array of colors as well as gracious and harmonious dance movements, allowing local audiences to see a kind of Chinese art that cannot be found elsewhere.”
- Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ)

“It was spectacular—with gorgeous multi-colored costumes, athletic dancers, lovely traditional Chinese music and fantastic singers… Being the son of a Cantor, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for tenors, and hearing Chinese legendary tenor Guimin Guan… was the highlight of the evening for me. His voice is similar to the voice of the great Italian tenor Benjamino Gigli, with a glorious sweet upper range-and crystal clear diction, sung with great emotion.”
– DC Theatre Scene

“[the] huge scenic projected backdrops are inspired—brilliant, the lighting is perfect… Inspiring… a visit to a magical Shangri-la.”
– Performing Arts Insider

“This cross-cultural, bilingual extravaganza not only features singing and dancing with beautiful costumes and superb talent, but it also has dragons, heavenly maidens, bold warriors, and drums... Even when the large-scale dance numbers left the stage to make way for solo artists, the size of their stage artistry was ample for the space… These troupes and performers, some from Canada, some from China, and even Germany, are all tightly choreographed and smartly professional… An overwhelming theme of the show is a tremendous sense of spirit, a feeling of joy.”
- San Francisco Bay Times

“An extravagantly beautiful production… Presented by Divine Performing Arts… whose lavish production numbers, colorful sets, dazzling costumes, brilliant choreography, and booming Tang dynasty drums… reveal the fascinating lifestyle and legendary elegance of the traditional China of yesterday coupled with the contemporary influence of today’s Western world… dozens of dancers in stunning hand-designed costumes.”
– BroadwayWorld.com

“Booming drums and graceful dance.”

“A visually exquisite offering with beautiful sound… strikingly intricate melodies… The costumes are vibrant and elaborate, but not too flashy. The dancers, mostly Chinese Americans, display moves that are high on synchronicity and subtlety, and achieve a sensitive and authentically traditional elegance.”
– NYTheatre.com

“This is a really wonderful performance. I would recommend it to everyone. I recommend everyone go out and get tickets… Don’t see it once, see it twice.”
– WVOX 1460 AM

– Charlotte Observer

“A dazzling array of costumes, and a crack orchestra that seamlessly fused Chinese and Western classical instrumentation… Bright background scenes underscored the idealized tone with rainbows arching above flowered meadows and sun rays kissing snowy mountain ranges.”
– Boston Herald

“Impressive… The production is a vision of loveliness, from the very first moment as the audience sees stylized dancers scurrying about the stage dressed as angels that look as if they are floating over a smoke-filled stage … The melodies run from delicate to dynamic. The costumes are brilliantly colored authentic dress that delights the eye. The projections are amazingly three dimensional… They are the best projections I have seen in a very long time.”
– Talkin’ Broadway

“Get on the horn and find out if they still have tickets, because this is what they mean when they use the word entertainment… Wonderful… so graceful the heart longs for more when the dancers leave the stage after all too short a time… Scores of costume changes, some interesting special effects, marvelous dance numbers that tell intricate, but easy to follow stories… absolutely perfect music by the Divine Performing Arts Orchestra.”
– Brooklyn View

“Incredible… Groundbreaking… The number one way for New York families to celebrate the New Year!”
– MSNBC News

“An impressive display of scenic effects to inspire awe… breathtaking vistas… Snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, rivers, waterfalls, blossoming gardens, pagodas and temples and street scenes serve as backdrops… gossamer draped maidens skimming through the clouds... Dance is at the heart of this expansive entertainment… Artistically choreographed divertissements in which sea nymphs cavort in the waves and brightly costumed dancers fill the stage as flowering forsythia are lovely to watch… Enough can't be said about the artistic mission of a company that employs six choreographers.”
– CurtainUp

“The show is certainly a spectacle. The production values are grand in terms of costumes and scenic effects, and the performers are all very good-looking and meticulously disciplined.”
– Globe and Mail

“The stunning gracefulness and strength of the individual dancers is immeasurably enhanced with precise and imaginative group choreography, sumptuous costuming, and magnificent set designs and backdrops using traditional painting together with multi-media technology. The entire production is a beautiful blend of antiquity and modernity... If you’re bone-weary of the offensive, obscene, absurd, and insipid offerings that are passed off as entertainment and culture these days, you owe it to yourself and posterity to indulge your inner aesthete in the refreshingly innocent beauty and artistic splendor which these outstanding artists bring to the stage.”
– The New American

“Extraordinary.”
– Femme Actuelle

“Combines ancient and modern with spectacular pageantry… wholesome, family-friendly… revives cultural holiday traditions, some dating back 5,000 years, which had all but been forgotten.”

– Marc Reese, trumpeter, Empire Brass

“Absolutely magical… The gorgeous costumes, the gracefulness, the beautiful choreography, the beautiful music… It’s beauty from beginning to end. Everybody that I know who has seen it, everybody comes away with exactly the same opinion: Everybody says you have to see it to believe it. You cannot describe it in words; it must be experienced.”
– Christine Walevska, cello virtuoso

“...a highly professional, well thought out and beautifully produced presentation! This is not only entertainment, but a valuable cross-over cultural event: a strong, gracious gesture toward international understanding, in an all-too-troubled world.”
– Donn B. Murphy, Ph.D., President, The National Theatre

“It amazed me… The choreography is phenomenal, I think it’s the best show that I ever saw. The best. Even the backgrounds, the dancing, the choreography and the music, the singing—everything. I am very, very lucky to see this amazing and fabulous performance, and I couldn’t have imagined it would be like this.”
– Valentina Alexess, former ballerina, Moscow Ballet

“Wonderful… a grand show, a spectacle… It was atmospheric, mesmerizing.”
– Jennifer O’Loughlin, Soprano, Vienna Opera House

“No words can describe the whole show. Amazing may be one way to describe it. It is so magnificent… I have never watched such wonderful dance in my life! It’s hard to describe. Perfection may be the right word.”
– Mieke Bouve, Belgian actress

“The theme of the show was very clear, depicting Chinese culture and history that is traditional and authentic. The programs displayed the courage, wisdom, and hardworking spirit of the Chinese people. Their hearts are so open and giving. Inspiring!”
– Nilas Martins, Principal dancer, New York City Ballet

“A wonderful combination of the expressive and the technical! It’s very rich in spirit. It’s not just giving you cultural snippets, a tour of Asia—it’s also giving you an underlying philosophy of what can be done and what really matters.”
– James Sutton, Associate Professor of Ballet, New York University

“There are no words to say how much I enjoyed it… I’ve never seen a dance company like it. I’ve seen the National Ballet, I’ve seen the New York City Ballet, and they dance from technique. But these people dance from the heart, from the soul… I will come to every performance they ever have… I think everybody should see this. These performances are phenomenal.”
– Kory Tylor, former ballerina and owner, Dance Arts Centre

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Musical : Billy Elliot . ET weekley just named it the best musical right above south pacific and I agree with the choice. I really find it the best musical on broadway right now.

Play: August is just wonderful. I wish I could have seen the original cast. But I do love Estelle Parson.
