I'm doing a dance private this year at my studio, and I'm doing a Broadway jazz dance and a Broadway tap. I want to do "I Can Do That" for my jazz (I prefer the Broadway revival version anyways). What are some male Broadway songs that are good for tap dancing? I'm the only boy at this studio, so it needs to be impressive!

I want to apologize for some offensive messages posted on this board under my name. The night 0f 12-15-08 I did not have internet access, and someone had used my name to post something offensive. My avatar was also changed. I dont' know what else was posted, or if anyone recieved bad PMs, but I want to apologize for that. I've changed my password, and even though I was not the one posting these messages it still needed to be corrected.

The only thing that immediately came to mind is "Cold Feets" from Drowsy. It's done as a pair, but I'm sure you could do a solo.

Besides that, I've always thought that the Wizard should tap during "Wonderful" in Wicked. He doesn't. But you should.

Wow, I really should stop attempting to give suggestions while I'm tired.

You have a Suessical avatar, so what about Havin A Hunch?

Angry Dance and finale from Billy Elliot are both fun tap songs.

There are a bunch other that I am totally blanking on right now.

Check out music from Anything Goes and Singin' in the Rain.
Both are very tap-heavy shows.

In the Same Boat from Curtains would be great to tap dance to. All you need is the sailor costumes, cowboy suits, the mermaid tail, and poof, you're all done.

Cold Feet would be a good tap-dancing number, too.

I Can't Be Bothered Now from Crazy for You. The thing about doing this song is that it has to look effortless, so your tap has to be top notch.

You might have heard of the musical "Hot Shoe Shuffle" from several years ago. While the first act had original music, the second was mostly a tap performance using already existing music. Here's the song list from Act 2:

* Puttin' on the Ritz
* How lucky can you get
* Song & dance man
* Little Brown Jug
* Pennsylvania 6-5000
* Mood Indigo
* Tiger Rag
* How long has this been going on
* I've got a gal in Kalamazoo
* It don't mean a thing
* Song for dancing medley
* The birth of the blues

I think virtually anything from Crazy for You would work.

I once saw "Shall We Dance" from the King & I done as a tap number.

LOVE "Cold Feet". That's a great choice.

Also, I'd look at "Moses" from SINGIN IN THE RAIN, and one that's not done too much, "I Want to be Happy" from NO NO NANETTE.
