I searched the boards and didn't see a previos post on this, but if I missed one and happen to be reposting, I apologize profusely :).
Here's my issue: I am looking for the sheet music for the song "If You Hadn't But You Did" sometimes referred to as simply "If." Dolores Grey recorded it on the recording of Two on the Aisle and more recently, Kristen Chenoweth recorded her version of it on her CD, Let Yourself Go. I'm not asking for anyone to copy and scan it to me or anything (although if you did, there would be abundant love sent your way.... ), I'm just trying to figure out if it exists anywhere and if it does, what book it's in. I've searched on the net, but I can't seem to find anything.
They have it at the Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center. I can't remember the name of the collection that it was in, but I know that they have it.
Yes, I agree with above ^^^ - your help is greatly appreciated, and I want to sing the song, but I'm in Chicago. I'm not actually doing it for an audition this time, though in the future, I would love to - I have to present a song to my Musical Theatre History class and have to provide the music for the pianist. I chose this song because not a lot of the people in my class know about it - most of them will be singing from Wicked, RENT, and anything Jason Robert Brown I suppose (not that I have anything against them, but when a class of 45 sings the same songs as one another, it gets old), and I wanted to do something different (plus, it's a song that I am able to give a neat character to and I can hit the notes.
But anyways.................
Yes. Do you know if the book is available for purchase?
Bumping this one back to the top. I know Warner Chappell Music owns the rights to this song, but the sheet music is nowhere to be found. I sent an email to them, but God only knows if anyone will even bother to email back. Does anyone know anything more on this? It's such a fun song, it's a crime the sheet music doesn't seem to be available anywhere...
Here's the link to Warner Chappell's site stating that they own the rights to this song... If You Hadn't, But You Did

Hi there, I've just discovered this song and I LOVE it, I really want to perform it but I'm a guy so I was just wondering could a man do it?? Do you guys thing? Would it come across the same and sound this as good?
Kristin invited Comden and Green to be present when she recorded the song. She related this in a Times article:
Much later, she got a record deal. One of the songs on the album was “If You Hadn’t, But You Did,” lyrics by Ms. Comden and Mr. Green. Ms. Chenoweth invited the pair to the recording.
“They said yes, which was a shock,” she said. “At the break they said, ‘You know, there’s this part you should do.’ And that was the second time I heard it.”
She sang the song again at Mr. Green’s memorial service (he had asked her in advance); Ms. Comden reminded her, she said: “ ‘Don’t forget ‘Twentieth Century.’ "
I wish she would do another album like "Let Yourself Go." Such fun. Half forgotten songs brought back to life by someone so gifted as a vocalist and comedienne.
