Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if there is a website that lists when an understudy goes on?

Thanks!

But it relies on the understudies themselves to check in with it --- so while there is seldom incorrect info, it is often incomplete.   (at least my understanding)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Unless the Broadway league put something together and required theaters to notify them, I don't see anyone who could create an understudy list that wasn't reliant on some sort of self-reporting. The good news is that as the Twitter account has become more well known, more people are inclined to report to it.

And of course, there are some shows that don't allow understudies to announce in advance when they're performing.

and considering that many understudies learn they are going on only after arriving at the theatre, it is hard to imagine how a "requirement" would work.

Are there actually any Broadway shows that have this as a rule? I can't think of any.

Didn't cam Mac forbid understudies from announcing?

That was the case in London somewhat recently.

Also, the JCS revival didn't allow it, and I think Wicked didn't allow it for a while. Mormon (at least for a few months a couple of years ago) didn't allow principals to announce until the day of, I think, but they seem much more relaxed about it now.

You're either wrong or the policy was implemented after February.

I am pretty sure Disney shows don't allow it . . .

Molly Jobe hasn't been allowed to announce when she's going on for Jenna. Maybe it has changed, or maybe it's only Jenna that they're doing it with.

or maybe they didn't want people to know in advance when the Tony-winner or show's celebrity composer would be absent. I wouldn't be surprised if she's allowed to announce it now.

I hope so, I've been dying to see her. She was the Katherine u/s in Newsies and is incredible.

Wicked most definitely did not for quite awhile. I have no idea if they do now, however.

Does Rudin allow it in Hello Dolly? Given his strict social media rules, I feel like he'd be against understudies announcing ahead of time if they're going on.
