 They are out on 45th St between 8th & Times Square giving out free ice cream as a promo. No idea how long it will be there. But, I just got myself a free cup of ice cream.

The TONY campaigning for this show has been pretty on point. From small things like this to the National Tour being announced today and the NYT Ben Platt profile... they're right on the money.

Serious, not snarky, question: Will Tony voters be swayed by an ice cream truck (that I'm guessing they aren't around to partake of) or is it about the exposure keeping the show in their minds?

Either way, free ice cream is better than the folks spamming twitter in order to get tickets to Groundhog Day.

I think this makes it a lock for DEH... Everyone remembers the infamous race of 1982, when Nine brought out a truck of Italian Ices. Clearly the deciding factor in the race. 

 

on a side note... what does ice cream have to do w DEH?

There is a meaning behind it, you'd have to see the show to understand. A La Mode!! I think it was a great idea!!

I've seen the show and I get that reference ... but ice cream is mentioned one time in the show and is kind of incidental. It's definitely not a theme and could practically be a blink and you miss it moment. 

If they are giving away ice cream for the sake of being fun (ya know, just a what comes to mind with DEH), that's cool, but if they are trying to really connect it to the show, it's a stretch in my opinion. It's not like Waitress sending out a pie truck.
