There have been discussions about this. There are claims that it will happen or some form of recording has already happened but nothing has been confirmed.
Great Comet composer Dave Malloy confirmed on his Twitter that they will be in the recording studio in December, however, nothing has been announced. The cast was supposedly supposed to be in the recording studio on the same day as the Ars Nova benefit, so I'm not sure if they even recorded at all. All we can do is wait, for now.
i don't have Twitter, but maybe someone here who does can tweet him asking if the cast went to the recording studio, or if they still plan to if they haven't yet?
uhh did this happen? did an OBCR occur for Great Comet and i missed it?

It was the typical Broadwayworld mistake. The information about the cast recording was from when they released the Orignal Off-Broadway one. Bwayworld didn't seem to realize it was an event for the book, not the cast recording.
Since this is sloppy reporting, I dont know how it could mean anything like that, on any way.
Although, I hope for one, too.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I love the Off-bway recording but I need one with Josh's vocals. So amazing. I wish we could have a recording with him and Phillipa though! She was superior to Denee. Well I guess when it's on the album it won't be as evident as it was through the acting. But Josh, he's the best part.
Have to register disagreement with rjm here. I love the original cast recording... But I am looking forward to hearing Denee in the OBCR almost as much as Josh. She is a brilliant Natasha!
Denee's "No One Else" is up on YouTube on the official YouTube channel! Sounds AMAZING! The release date for the cast recording is supposed to be announced soon.
I've been listening to Denee's version a lot (way more than I should) since 3/31 1:40ish pm, basically since I discovered it. It's so good. I love her voice, and this score is beautiful.
Caption: Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.
"No One Else" is just the exquisite centerpiece of the score for me. The most sumptuous and haunting melody. It builds, circles and allows Natasha to ruminate contemplatively on this winter night and yet still break her heart wide open by the end. Just gorgeous.

There is a new trailer for the musical posted on their official YouTube channel. Prologue is playing in the background and it sounds like it could very well be from the upcoming Broadway cast recording. Just a heads up!
Is it just me, or is the sound a little weird in that commercial? I assume it's from the new recording, it lacks the energy from the original...and "Balaga" is so garbled it doesn't even sound like a word. Maybe it is just the editing.
