Sunny, perhaps the holiday landed on the weekend this year. Still very shocking nonetheless. It seemed like summer was terrible now the holiday is too. BUT that Hamilton number is staggering. My jaw is aching just from looking at it. The difference from what they made from last week to this week was over a million dollars alone!!
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Anyone have an estimate as to In Transit's weekly nut? I can't imagine the running cost is that high. I haven't seen the show, but I've seen the clips. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the production seems fairly simple and low-cost, plus it's a small-ish cast with no big stars, and there isn't an orchestra. It seems possible that either they're just barely making it, or keeping their losses low enough that they can keep chugging until Tony noms.
I notice that A Bronx Tale was down this week, when tourists are in town and most other shows are up. I wonder if the audience for it, seemingly a "Jersey Boys" crowd of B&T locals, might work as a sort of counterbalance to the more tourist-oriented shows.
And Hamilton - OMG! An average ticket price of $998???

That's the TOP ticket price, not the average. A distinction worth noting, but even still, it is crazy high. The $998 premium tix are only for special holiday weeks though, right?

"Most" shows were NOT up. Only 10 out of more than 30 shows were up.
Let me say this again more slowly for those that weren't paying attention. Most shows did SEVEN performances (7) this past week compared to EIGHT ( the prior week, which explains why they appeared to be "down" when they might not have been down at all. Capiche?

Thanks for the correction. I had initially focused on the $3M+ gross and then scanned to the right.
RIght now StubHub offerings for Hamilton in SF are filled with dreamers. (Including a $15K single in row F on the day we're seeing in it April.) However, I suspect that they will ultimately go for at least Broadway prices if not more, once performances start in March. (...and I'm aware it's totally tangental to the Bway grosses, since it's both not Broadway and a secondary sale)
Most shows only did 7 shows this week. This current week(Dec. 26 - Jan. 1) has most shows doing 9 shows. This current week is the big money week. If a show can't make money now, it has no hope in the winter.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

But it's the capacity % sold that's measured in the rankings not the total number of tickets.
Compared to this same point last year more shows where down from the prior week.
Not only did most shows only do 7 performances, but with Christmas Eve on Saturday most shows had no Saturday night performance and many also didn't have a matinee either or a Sunday matinee.
next week will also be interesting with New Years Eve on Saturday night. Most shows are doing very unusual schedules. Wonder if these will impact the less than sellout shows.
Is it me, or is the $$ for Hamilton beyond understanding. I know it's a great show, and gosh I know I loved it. But 3M+ for a show with a totally replacement cast?
Some day, Miranda is going to come back for a few weeks, and bring Odom, Jr. with him, and they will sell tickets for $2500 each.

The show is the star. And people who had the option of no tickets or $2K for a while jumped at seeing the show for "half price."
Wait until next year, when the $849 premium seats for most of the orchestra kick in...

Will this happen, though? I believe that Hamilton is at its peak and with the show opening up and touring in so many other places, I see the Broadway show made up entirely of replacements remaining constant, but definitely not inclining from here.

My understanding is that the current grosses are still with the $450ish top premium ticket, with the only recent spikes being for $900ish seats they held back for Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks, but that for a good chunk of 2017, the premium orchestra rose to $849 for many seats, and the block where that kicked in hasn't even started showing up in the grosses yet... I have tickets for August, and I think up to row Q or R had $849 premium seats, so I think there is still a spike ahead. Whether that spike will be short-lived would still put the drop into next fall...
Just checked the NYTimes article about the price increase from last June, and it does start in the January/February timeframe: "The show is sold out through next January, but the producers have already begun selling tickets for the following four months to some American Express cardholders. They intend to begin selling tickets for that same period to the public after the Tony Awards, which will be broadcast on Sunday evening; “Hamilton” is favored to win multiple awards, including best new musical."

to put it in perspective a little, less than a million people have seen Hamilton to date (and that includes those of us that have seen it multiple times as multiple people and every production.) The demand will not abate this coming year. Maybe 2020.

Thank you, but I'm not a moron. I can read. I know not all shows did a full week. My comment just stated that most shows were down, when another poster stated that they were up... not sure why you felt the need to condescend.
