So maybe, you should have put this on that thread.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Thank you so much for this information! I am sure a lot of us feel a lot wiser, now that we know this! (I'm sure this makes the person who created that thread feel great, too)
lol i feel bad for thinking of him when i read this thread's title... he's not a good singer and i don't know how "complex" his acting can be, but hey at least he has one thing that is invaluable to a performer: charisma.

No doubt! I'm a fan! He's extremely charismatic, as is Kelly Clarkson. But when the OP creates a whole new thread bashing Kelly's (rather unknown) abilities while celebrating Lin's, I find it amusing.
There is no equation for what translates on stage. Some of the best performers are strange hybrids-Harvey, Carol, Gwen, Chita. Some can sing not dance. Some sing oddly and can dance. Some can style a song in their own unique way and can't dance. It's all about selling it. One of the most most effective versions of Bewitched was Stockard Channing's-she could barely sing it, but damn she nailed the pathos and the heartache and longing. She acted the hell out of it. If you can act like you believe what you are singing that's sometimes half the battle. Case in point, Glenn Close.

"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

SHUT UP. IT'S BEEN FOUR YEARS GET OVER IT.
Bettyboy, Chita could sing her face off.

Let's not forget the wonderful surprise that was the other half of the regrettable "From Justin to Kelly" movie. I don't think anyone expected anything from Justin Guarini when he appeared in "Women on the Verge..." and we were all pleasantly surprised. He's gotten great reviews since and is in "In Transit."

Anika Noni Rose also co-starred in From Justin to Kelly. She's pretty bad in it too. No one escaped that movie unscathed.
