First thought I had as well. Unbelievable. This is, notably, the first week that indicates the show had a top ticket of $998 versus the previous $549 number.
Is this the first week where the premium seats took the jump in price? Regardless: sheesh.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Just looked at Wicked and Lion King numbers-- Neither have hit $3.26 million. Would the Broadway League be able to announce it if it really was a record week?
You would think Hamilton's press team would have put out a braggy release already, but I don't remember the last time they put out a press release. So never mind.
The Hamilton numbers are made even more impressive when you see that they only did 8 shows last week-Most weeks where Wicked/Lion King have approached that number have been 9 show weeks. I'd imagine we'll see even higher numbers around Christmas/New Year

Oh, wow! Yeah! Three cheers for a $998 top ticket price! That's so good for the theatre! And don't stop here! Let's see how much higher it can go! The sky's the limit!
And a couple of more cheers for the oodles of extra dough the thing is raking in.
I hate that I kind of agree with A8 on this one. $998 is pretty obscene. I know, I know, supply and demand, blah blah blah. But it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
Still, I'd be intrigued to learn if this is confirmed as a record or not.

Yes, Wicked made $3.2 million Christmas week 2013 but with 9 performances, so I can't see this NOT being a record, as I said.
Yes, its obnoxious....as it was when those tickets were released. Truth be told, I'm not sure which is more troubling: that they ASKED that much or that there are so many people ready and willing to PAY that much.

It’s an outrageously high ticket price—but people bought those tickets. It’s supply and demand. You can’t slam Hamilton for capitalizing on high demand.
