Do you think The Encounter will close earlier than its intended run? Those are pretty low numbers.

I forgot that A Bronx Tale took the Longacre. Is that the smallest theatre or just the one with the fewest seats that has a show running right now? Either way, good for them. Allegiance struggled there so I'm not pooh-poohing their first week because of the size of the theatre.

None of the above. It seats 1091, so the Kerr, Studio 54, Ambassador, O'Neill, Jacobs, and Sondheim seat fewer.

I guess Holliday is doing nothing for TCP. also, Erivo missed two shows and their grosses tumble. Can't imagine how bad they are when she's on vacation next week.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I do not want to be the person who screams the show is closing but how much lower can Chicago go? Like how much does it cost to run each week?

I'm not surprised by A Bronx Tale's numbers one bit. The show has an all-star team behind it. Based on a well known story. It's a new musical that had a fairly successful out-of-town run. The only people I've encountered who seem to have a problem with the show have been on these boards.
This is not to say their numbers will stay this strong, but they're definitely off to a good start. When I looked at ticket availability a few weeks back, the choices were rather slim pickings aside from rear mezzanine and balcony. We'll have to wait and see.

I like to see how shows are selling but apart from the top 4 it would seem that no one needs to book in advance; just go to the box office on the day, and buy a ticket as there seems to be plenty available for all other shows.
In Australia we[me] don't seem to be so obsessed about asking where is the best place to sit etc etc. We[me] either look at the seating plan online or at the ticket agent and make up our own mind and buy. That's how I buy most of my theatre tickets.
Am I wrong about the availability of seats if I'm in town for a couple of days and prepared to pay box office prices on the day?

Ohhh, yes, that would have been easy to do with so few performances in its first week. (Also, for what it's worth , I only listed the theatres housing musicals currently.)

It all depends on the show, the time of year you are in town, and what days you are talking about. Weekend shows will tend to be sold out further in advance than weekday shows, even for the less in-demand titles. The closer you get to the holidays the less availability you'll see in terms of day of walk up sales as well.

If you're going during the week, your statement is likely accurate, but not so for weekend performances.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Not very much, and the producers don't care if they lose some money here and there. They will not close the show.

Yeah, I honestly didn't know that it was a well known story/recognizable commodity. But clearly it is, as the average ticket price shows.

I'm not quarreling with the observation except to note that as a general proposition extrapolating from <3000 bodies is not especially sound analytically. But I do suspect there is more where that came from.
