Anyone else watching? I haven't watched episode 3 yet, but I found the pilot intriguing and the second episode downright great. I love the intimacy and familiarity of the home possession and the expanded world beyond the Rance household that's crawling with demonic influence as well. Not to mention the performances, which are all pitch perfect so far. Geena Davis is still stuck with the same issue that plagued the first few episodes of Stranger Things for Winona Ryder (concerned mother is very concerned and frazzled), but she's so wonderful to watch, it doesn't bother me. More than anything, it's also scary as hell with some great effects (the attic sequence in the pilot and the finale of episode two stick out). I'm very curious to see where the show goes, but I'm 100% on board.
I'm watching and really enjoying - much more so than I expected. I like the way it borrows from the original without outright ripping it off. And unlike most of the sequels and prequels, with the possible exception of Exorcist 3, I don't think it cheapens the original in any way. And Gena Davis and Ben Daniels are, indeed, fun to watch!
Color...if you liked the first two episodes, I think you're going to love the third!
Over at AV Club they're only doing whole-season-overview coverage, but the commentariat have suggested that this might be the second coming of HANNIBAL: the smart, well-made genre thriller that brings prestige-channel quality to major network prime time, but is a little too weird for Mittel Amerika to grasp. (If nothing else, "Exorcist" is at least not as sexually complex as the often-queer Lecter show was, one thing suspected to have driven away procedural fans.)
Thoughts on this week's big reveal that Angela is actually Regan MacNeil and the sudden appearance of Sharon Gless (the QAF fan in me is GGAAGGGGIINNGG) as her mother, Chris?
The show has been so solid in its storytelling so far, I have the utmost confidence that this new twist will be a delightful gamechanger. I'm curious to see if the demon possessing Kasey (has he been identified yet?) has any connection to Pazuzu, and thus, RegAngela. And what is going to happen with those body parts?? And the Pope's arrival?? This show is fantastic.
Just caught up and binged all the episodes and boy, do I love it. I didn't expect it to be this great. I was initially wishing that the didn't name this show The Exorcist so it didn't have to live in the shadow of the film, but now that they revealed the twist (which I loved, even if the timeline is a little murky and out of character for Chris), I can't wait to see where it goes. Hopefully they don't go too Pazuzu-heavy.
This show is Brilliant! I will not say it is as good as Bates Motel, but it is close! Way better than The Omen. The part about the grownup Reagan from the Movie was Brilliant! Love the 2 girls and Father Thomas would give me bad thoughts during Church!
I decided to binge on "The Exorcist" (so far), for Halloween and boy, oh boy do I have some questions...
1) How is this on FOX?
2) How is this on FOX on Friday nights at 9:00pm? They are really wasting this time period by putting it here.
3) If ever there was a show perfectly suited for FX or FXX it's this one.
I can't believe how scary it is. It's such an unexpected and entertaining sequel. The special effects are very very good. I can't imagine this wouldn't be a big hit if it wasn't on another night. (and it's on when one of my favorites is on (CEG). I don't want to give anything away, Angela (Geena Davis, she's been gone awhile, but very moving and good), and others in the cast and future cast are very intriguing. My DVR has another show to record. If you like scary...
They should have given it a better time slot. They buried it on Friday nights and few people even know about it. There was very little advertising. It really is fairly well done with some seasoned actors but I believe they are not renewing it.
TV Guide gave it a cheers on their back page this week saying they liked the reveal of the mother's past. I had just read a few weeks ago that ratings were very low.
Oh wow, did not see that end coming. I kind of figured Pazuzu/Captain Howdy/Salesman had transferred to Angela, but really wasn't anticipating such a swift dispatch of Chris. OR THE EYE ROLL. It is a pretty tragic end for a character from the horror canon who I actually respect. The Chris MacNeil of the book and movie were such beacons of strength and love, it was hard to watch, even if the show's revelations about her proved less than flattering.
JerseyGirl is absolutely dead on. Geena Davis is about to have a great deal of fun with these last few episodes. How many are there in the season? 10 or 13? I really hope it gets renewed, but will forever be glad this season was so fantastic on its own.
I did enjoy this a lot. It was only 10 episodes which makes me think it was planned for FX or FXX. Even if FOX doesn't renew it, I would think even moving it to cable would retain the viewer base and pick up more viewers. It would be a lot more intense without commercials.
Geena Davis did look like she was having a "devilish" time; the whole cast and special effects were very, very, good.
The way it ended, just makes me think it will be an anthology. They did a good mysterious job picking up the Regan storyline, but how can they do that every season with the one family?

An Exorcist's job is never done. If it gets picked-up, there will be other demons and other families.

" I hope you right. Instead of losing steam over the season like AHS, this got better and better. Most intense show on TV this season!
