Add my two cents to the "THANK YOU, THEATER GODS!" Pile! One of my favorite shows of all time (I'd see this over "Hamilton" any day!), and I hope I get to see it!
It seems to be just a little showcase; and it may be piano only, as they don't mention any musicians, other than the MD. Calling it a "return to New York" makes it sound like some major revival, and it really isn't. Queenie is played by the group's community director.
Saw it tonight and was equally entertained and moved. It's a four piece band, they're very tight. Queenie is the group's community director, but she's got legitimate credits and is really a force within the show. Cast is strong; maybe one casting qualm.
Only negative: it's a tough space, and have a lot of questions about the way it was used.
This show isn't done as often as it should be IMO. See it if you can.
I saw the original and liked it a lot. Performances were good and, while the show was very dark in tone, it was really interesting material based on a 'poem'. I don't think it got the attention it deserved.
