Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
The fact that Olivo and Gonzalez are both playing Angelica brings me SO much joy. Henry's Burr will be inspired.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
I literally was thinking about Mandy playing Angelica yesterday, but thought she might be too nice for the role, but I'm sure she's gonna kill it, after all, Renee is not really mean, she's just assertive.
As much as I love Mandy (she's totes perfect for Angelica) but I think she's aged out of Eliza. Otherwise I feel like they would have casted her as Eliza.
Funnily enough, she was the first ever Maria Reynolds! Really excited to see what she'll do with Angelica, though. I believe Nina and Angelica are more similar than you'd think at first glance.
They/them.

How wonderful! She is going to be just great. I would still love to see her play Eliza at some point, she can bring that combination of tenderness and spunk that made her performance as Nina so winning. But this role does seem more challenging and different for her, a great replacement for the brilliant Renee Elise Goldsberry.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
I was just listening to In the Heights this morning, and I thought she'd make a wonderful Angelica, and low and behold this new casting was announced a couple of hours later!

It's a great score...very much a great representation of my people and my culture. Not a hybrid latin score as interpreted by a non-latino composer...but a true score that has the pulse, beat and flavor of the nyc i grew up in written by a latino composer who did so as well.
I only wish there was a number involving Washington and Angelica so that Mandy Gonzalez and Christopher Jackson could get to sing together again. But how great that they'll be together in another Lin-Manuel Miranda show.

i never made the effort to go and see it (along with so many other shows that closed) but "In the Heights" has been my recent treadmill workout music. I'm thrilled to have Mandy Gonzalez in the Broadway production. I rally want to see Karen in Chicago and Josh Henry!

I really want to go to Chicago and see that production as well. HEIGHTS is a great OBC too do a workout with. I don't usually work out to show tunes or OBC's but that show's more energetic numbers lend themselves for perfect workout music.

One of my favorite sounds when I workout while listening to the cast recording is that tiny occasional nuance of bachata to tie in with the neighborhood. It's just a touch and enough not to make you feel like you're in the neighborhood hookah lounge. The music is brilliant and I concur with what you wrote, a great representation of our people and culture.

¡Ay! GO!!!!! I have to or I will kick myself if I don't!
I usually listen to house music to workout with but to switch it up and turned to musicals. I was really surprised to find myself enjoying a run to them!

Angelica and Washington dance together during A Winter's Ball. Not nearly as good as getting a song with those two, but I'm definitely looking out for that moment!
