which Cinderella is this? The Rodgers and Hammerstein version or the Disney version? Also 500,000 dollars a week is pretty hefty, even for a star of her caliber.

Though 500,00 pounds is worth more than 500,000 dollars.

And on a side note, she reportedly makes $475,000 PER PERFORMANCE for her Vegas show, so getting around $705,000 for 5 weeks in a London panto, is chump change!
I think pantomime would also be difficult for her at this stage of her career. As someone who loves her, I hate to say it, but she's essentially become a prop pushed through highly choreographed extravaganzas by a sea of dancers used to cover up her indifference. It's sad to see that the passion just isn't there for her anymore, but I don't think this kind of gig would be the answer. I'd expect her to be even more out of her element performing with material that isn't her own.
I love Britney - I've seen her live three times and plan to go to Vegas this summer! This could be "cool and very interesting" for her. But I'd be surprised to see her take it considering she has Piece of Me dates planned until fall 2017 and she's rumored to release a new album in May. (Also, her dancing has been the best it's been since probably 2003, in my opinion.)
"I saw Pavarotti play Rodolfo on stage and with his girth I thought he was about to eat the whole table at the Cafe Momus." - Dollypop
It sounds like an interesting idea and I'm sure Britney would enjoy doing it, but I feel like this is an absolute rumor. As someone else mentioned, she has a new album coming out next month and she'll be focusing on that and continuing with Piece of Me.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
Please instruct me and help me to understand----all I know is what I read-and of course I believe everything in print.
If Ms Spears lipsynks[?][stinks?] is indifferent, dancers covering her etc etc who on earth is PAYING to see her and why is she apparently such a 'big deal' and getting big bucks?
If the memory of her hits mean something, why not play the CD rather then get a half baked performance from someone who would rather be somewhere else.
Sounds crazy to me---rather read a good book.
PS My love of theatre started with Christmas pantos every year from about the age of 6 and I had the fun of appearing in a professional production of Alice in Wonderland with many very popular personalities of the day. Pantos are where many children develop a love and understanding of theatre.

My friend worked for wardrobe on that production and told me they were told they were going to close for a few weeks and reopen with Britney at the Hilton/Lyric. It was a go, a chorus part was "not renewed" so Kevin Federline could get a paycheck too, and it was official, but she pulled out because she didn't want to move to NYC and told producers that at the very last second.
Yes! I remember that. Crazy to hear that it really was that close to happening. I think she should have done it, she could have proved once and for all that she had legitimate talent. Sadly, she had several mental collapses a couple years later, and while she's recuperated, she's now nothing more than a lip syncing robot.
I saw Britney last night in Vegas and she gave 100%. No she wasn't singing live, and if she was it was heavily back-fracked (there were no back up singers). But she killed it dancing and in the performance. I felt she wanted to be there and her dancers were incredible, as was the show. I don't see her doing this though. She's got a really sweet gig in Vegas.
Why don't you go? Why don't you leave Manderley? He doesn't need you... he's got his memories. He doesn't love you, he wants to be alone again with her. You've nothing to stay for. You've nothing to live for really, have you?
How long was Applegate in the show for? Britney gave birth to her first son in September '05, I imagine that had something to do with her pulling out at the last minute.
To those criticizing her performances the last few years - I strongly recommend you check out footage from the revamped version of her Vegas show she recently premiered. She's been on top of her game lately.
I'd love for this to be true as an old fan myself, however it sounds a bit too good to be true.
ETA: Her team made a statement today (after she announced a new single) and said "It simply isn't happening" and that they hadn't even received an offer. She'll be performing in Vegas through New Years.
