they are doing a US Tour with Robert DeNiro attached as a producer so i wouldn't be surprised if it happens in the next year or so....

DeNiro and his company Tribeca Productions produced the last US tour in 2013 which I surprisingly enjoyed but I've seen nothing about a new tour. If the last one couldn't muster up enough interest in a Broadway transfer why would it be any different a second time around?

It's horrifically bad, but it hasn't stopped bad show from coming to broadway.

It's a jaw-dropping, I-didn't-know-theatre-could-be-this-tacky kind of bad show. Interesting that Tribeca is producing, as they were behind the original Queen musical, which was more in the Jersey Boys/Beautiful vein, a bio-show of the band Queen, using their songs. That got axed after one workshop, though, and the surviving band members went to Ben Elton to create something (as they were all enormous fans of Elton's TV show, The Young Ones).

I'm with newintown on this one.  We hadn't planned on seeing it in London, but after several people said how wonderful it was - we got tickets.  And regretted it.  It has its very loyal and vociferous fans - it wouldn't have run for so long in London in a big theatre without them.  

that's not to say this couldn't be a commercial hit in the US - but that would have to happen without my puchasing tickets (not that the producers would actually notice one to four less tickets)

The only jukebox musical that survived that sucked was Motown. Janice Joplin, and Baby Its You flopped

I saw this in London years ago...omg it really is a disaster AND I really love the music of Queen too.

It's not the music that's the mess - it is the book which is beyond horrible.

"The musical tells the story of a group of Bohemians who struggle to restore the free exchange of thought, fashion, and live music in a distant future where everyone dresses, thinks and acts the same. Musical instruments and composers are forbidden, and rock music is all but unknown."

I saw this in London and again here in LA when it was touring about a year or so ago. You go for the music not the story on this one. Sure it isn't brilliant theater but I found it rather enjoyable, however I am a huge fan of Queen's music. Having said that, I've seen a lot worse crap on Broadway and feel this would do well in New York.

Personally I didn't love Rock of Ages, but saw We Will Rock You many times.  Great fun musical...and so much better.

A version lived in Toronto for a year. They were practically giving seats away when I went a few months b4 it closed. Some good performers totally wasted in complete rubbish.  Seriously I stayed just to laugh at the awe inspiring level of crap pretending to be a show.

As a Queen fan since 1972 I can honestly say this show is/was garbage. The Queen songs are performed well enough (and a lot louder than average musical theatre) but the book is terrible. Ben Elton had his moment with The Young Ones and Blackadder. His foray into musical theatre was only appreciated by his bank balance. He also penned a Rod Stewart musical which was reviewed as "vacuous" and "insipid". 

I would be very surprised at a Broadway run as it's performance in the US has been patchy due in no small part to Queen abandoning the US in 1982 after their dance-orientated album 'Hot Space' killed off a sizeable chunk of their rock fanbase. It's cheap/cheezy 'deafen and blind them' works for some. Not for me.

I had the misfortune of seeing "We Will Rock You" in London years ago accompanied by my 18 year old son and his 2 friends. I was miserable throughout, stupidest plot ever. Worst show I have ever seen. My young companions, however, thought it was the greatest piece of theater ever created by mankind. Of course, they were also in a great mood because they were in Europe and could drink legally. Whatever.
