I just read an interview with Sutton Foster in which she said that her schedule for the spring is available and that there are "irons in the fire" for a possible Broadway return. Anybody know what she's talking about?

I believe she also alluded to this in a Broadway.com ShowPeople interview, but I have no idea what the show may be.

The only thing I could think of is a Violet like situation, except this time with The Wild Party. But seeing as that show got mixed reviews, I'm not sure how likely that is.

I've said it before but I want her to do a revival of ONCE UPON A MATTRESS so so badly. It's almost 20 years since our last production and it's time to bring it back and she would just be so perfect.

Get Donna Murphy and Colin Donnell in there and it'll be perfect!

That's actually an awesome idea.

It wouldn't be anything at Roundabout as all their spaces are spoken for. I wonder what it would be. Maybe a supporting role instead of a lead role?

Mattress would work if there wasn't an off Broadway revival with Jackie Hoffman. It might be wild party. I think Andrew lippa said some were interested in it possibly or something in a interview

I think we're long overdue for a revival of Crazy For You, Sutton would be a perfect Polly.

Could it possibly be a straight play?

If they ever did an Aida revival, I would love to see Foster in it!

While Wild Party being on Broadway is kinda cool. Having seen the Encores, I just don't see it doing well at all. Unless Roundabout or someone is footing the bill. Foster wasn't exactly a perfect fit for the role.

Yeah, Sutton was not great in The Wild Party. The one reason to see it on Broadway would be due to Steven Pasquale's absolutely phenomenal performance.

I would love to see her originate a new role.

I'd see it again for Pasquale or Joaquina but other than that I have no real desire to see the Encores version (with all the changes) of The Wild Party again. They are doing a version of Once Upon a Mattress with Jackie Hoffman. I love the music and it would be great to see Sutton in that role but I wonder if it isn't too close to Fiona.

Didn't Ben Brantley love Sutton in "The Wild Party"? I could have sworn a (important) reviewer loved her. I wouldn't have a problem with it coming to Broadway. However, this interview is from May 13th, so I'm thinking maybe it's something else. Are there any other rumored things coming that she could be apart of? Other than that, great to hear she's working on a new album!

Foster in this + a really different, out of the norm choice for Dauntless is my DREAM revival. I would love to see her and Josh Gad in this but I am sure it's unlikely he'd come back to Broadway right now when he's doing well for himself in movies.

The interview posted in this thread is from May. THE WILD PARTY didn't happen until July, so logic would lead one to believe Foster is talking about a different Broadway-bound project.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Has any of the casting been confirmed for Tuck Everlasting? I know that was trying to come in the spring. Casey Nicholaw is directing and Beth Leavel has been attached for a while. Could that possible be it?

If you are referring to Ma Tuck, that's Carolee Carmello's role. She has been attached to the show from the beginning, and she and the creators have developed a strong relationship. So unless something unforseen happens, Tuck won't come to Broadway without her. It's more than just coincidental that Tuck Everlasting will be starting rehearsals just as Carolee's Neverland contract is ending. I can 99% assure that Sutton isn't coming back to Broadway in Tuck Everlasting.

See, I wasn't sure. Carolee makes much more sense in that show.

How about a role in American Psycho? I assume it wouldn't be a leading role, but maybe she's interested in taking part in something new? I really have no idea, just throwing it out there.

That's not impossible. She would definitely be playing against type. American Psycho is not Sutton's usual kind of musical, but I wouldn't dismiss it.
