Please tell me what the reason was to start an entirely new thread about this? There is so much discussion already, please just pick an existing thread...

There have been many Finding Neverland threads (one right on the first page of the board, about Matthew Morrison being gone from a performance).

Awards are only important to those who deem them to be important. If awards don't matter to you, go and see Finding Neverland. If they do matter to you, they probably weren't nominated for whatever reason the nominating persons chose.

Personally I didn't think it was that bad.  And I've seen a lot of Broadway theater.  I'm somewhat surprised by the reception it received actually.  For a show like this to receive no nods at all, seems strange, almost purposeful, but not necessarily deserved.

I agree though, I will see something regardless of the reviews.  If it's a story that appeals to me, I'll give it a try.  And oft times I've been very happy with what I saw.

OK, I'm trying to understand.  You just thought of that WHILE you were typing?  What was your original purpose of typing Finding Neverland if you hadn't even thought of that yet?

How were you able to get refund? I was very disappointed to have not seen Matthew Morrison, but Kevin kearns is exceptional!

I was there tonight and Morrison was out, but his standby was very good and sounded just like him. Unfortunately the show was a big mess and that's why it probably didn't get any nominations. I don't think it was purposely done, because It Should Have Been You, Sideshow and other shows didn't get a single nomination, and a brilliant show like Gigi got only one nomination.

When I saw Matt was out I just took my tickets to the box office and asked if I could exchange them since he was out.  A few other people were doing the same thing.

Matt tweeted that he performed the day before with a fever..obviously he did not improve.

I have gotten tickets refunded to me on occasion for various reasons, including if an actor (who was not even the "star" was out). I think it depends on who you wind up talking to at the box office. Some are really nice and do what they can do..and if they can't do anything, at least state it nicely.

Recently, I had an extra ticket to Hand to God and asked if I could return it and the box office woman practically chopped my head off...and insinuated that if I tried to sell it outside the theater, she could have me arrested if I was anywhere remotely near the box office. But that's uncommon...

I've heard multiple people say that they found Kern to be better than Morrison.  I can't offer a comparison as I haven't seen Morrison live but I found Kevin to be vocally flawless in the role.

Both Morrison and Grammar have been sick.   I believe Morrison is out again for the matinee if anyone wants to catch Kevin.  Not sure about Kelsey.

Sometimes the understudy IS better but perhaps a ticket holder just wants to see a particular actor/actress in the role. Not that one wouldn't enjoy the understudy but it's not who you wanted to see and not everyone is able to see the show more than once for financial reasons, for not living in NY, etc.

I am usually game for anyone but I understand the other side as well..

I agree, although I heard Kevin is great in the role, the reason I that I even want to see the show is to see matt and his performance.

Both Matt and Kelsey were out this afternoon. I imagine there was quite a bit of grumbling going on in the theater and at the box office.

It's tough when your lead is sick but for two leads to be sick..that's doubly disappointing.

Last week Matthew had a Twitter exchange with Kristin Chenoweth during their intermissions where she was in a neck brace and he was  steaming his  throat. Somebody aptly commented that looked like something from " American Horror Story: Broadway"!

Whatever he has it's been lingering for at least 3 weeks now. I hope he gets well soon.

American horror story: Broadway has to be a thing now! C'mon Ryan Murphy make it happen!

Today:

JM Barrie - Kevin Kern

Frohman/Hook - Paul Slade Smith

Henshaw AND Canaan - Tyler Russ (Who apparently held his script in hand the entire performance)

Cromer - Fred Odgaard

Hook (actor) - Jonathan Ritter

Does this happen very often?  People holding their scripts?  or are you just kidding?  Wouldn't people complain?  And why don't they have swings or u/s that know their parts already?

Putting Kevin on for Matthew, they were down to one male swing (Fred Odgaard). So it seems there was a bit of internal covering for tracks.Throw in the fact that Josh Lamon (Mr. Cromer) and Rory Donovan (Captain Hook of the Acting Company) were out and so putting Tyley and Jonathan Ritter into different tracks for some scenes and songs was probably a last minute decision. Ross regularly plays Lord Canaan, but I doubt he's an understudy for Paul Slade Smith's Mr. Henshaw.

At the ART when Michael McGrath called out, it created an entire chain reaction. Paul took over for him, Rory went into the Mr.Henshaw Track, Ritter was on for Rory, and a swing took over Ritter's track.
