So I'm happy to say I'm going to see curious incident on June 6 at 2 pm. Does anyone know what days he is out and off he will be perform that matinee. Has he skipped Saturday matinees? I really want to see him in the show because of what I have heard by his performance. Is his understudy good in the role at all? Sorry I have lots of questions
The schedule has been changed back to Alex's standby Taylor Trensch performing Wednesday nights and Sunday matinees.
Alex has not missed many of his scheduled performances however, and with Tony's the next day I doubt he will be missing that performance.
However, if by chance Alex does miss that show, Taylor is equally as good as Alex. They both play the role differently, but are both incredible in their own way. Whichever Christopher you have, you will enjoy their performance.
I just saw this past Sat Mat and Alex was on. The playbill says that Taylor performs on Wed night and Sun Mat. Also, I believe a note went to Tony voters that Wed Night and Sun Mat were not shows they could choose.
Add me to the list of those who saw Taylor Trensch and LOVED his performance. Bold and heartbreaking. I didn't see Mr. Sharp, but I can tell you that if he's out when you see the show, you'll still get your money's worth. And then some. Everyone in the production (and the production itself) is fantastic.
Alex Sharp's performance was too affected for you? I'm sorry. He's playing a kid with severe asperger's syndrome. Perhaps you don't know enough about that disease. 100% of his movements, thoughts, emotions, responses, reactions are spot on. So your complaint is nonsense.
About Mr. Sharp's schedule... I saw the matinee today and my playbill confirmed that Taylor is back to filling in Wednesday evenings and Sunday matinees. The box office confirmed Alex was scheduled to play both shows today when I bought my rush ticket this morning (with a hairline elbow fracture to boot!).
Fantastic show. Fantastic play. Great spectacle(that's a compliment)!! Multiple Tony wins in 4 weeks. Get ready for a sweep!
Whoa, no need to call someone else's opinion "nonsense." I saw both Taylor and Alex and preferred Taylor in the role. Then again, I saw Taylor before I saw Alex, so perhaps that had something to do with it. I still enjoyed Alex and thought he gave a great performance, but there was something slightly off-putting (or affected, as tazber put it) about it. But perhaps that was the point. I just wish there was some way Taylor could be recognized for his work as well.

To be fair, I've seen nothing but raves for BOTH young men. (Taz's opinion notwithstanding). I do think he's the front runner for the Tony, but from public opinion, it seems like they are both worthy.
As far as "recognition", he knows how people feel about his performance....on the boards and at each curtain call. Awards are not the only form of recognition.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
