Why would they put a tony winning show for such a short run

The producers have just announced that Matt Cardle, winner of the UK X-Factor, a few years back, is to replace Killian Donnelly from July.

So I suspect this means that the show will continue but it is unknown for how much longer after.

Cardle is by no means an actor and has never appeared on stage in a musical. He is an OK-ish singer (in my opinion).

Beverley Knight is the draw in this show, well, the name that people have heard off, so I'm not sure how the casting of Cardle will aid the show.

Beverley has extended into October  - anyone who has seen the current producers on tour - as great and enthusiastic the cast are -  will know that its a long way from a west end production with minimal set and few props pushed on - it would look empty in the west end as it did at the Bristol Hippodome  - as the tour even with TV names is not selling out the regions its likely to be a bigger risk than the current show

According to London Theatre Tickets website the show continues through to the end of its scheduled run in the West End on 31st October with early plans in progress for a major tour of the UK and Ireland from Autumn 2016.

Wonder if Bev will just stay on at the Shaftesbury for Motown.
