Just curious. Do some shows/theaters ever let you watch the show from the back of the house before being escorted to your seats during the proper applause break? Or is it usually standard that you wait in the lobby until the applause break and then get escorted to your seat?

Many plays have you wait in a room until intermission and watch the show on a live monitor. Most if not all musicals will let go to your seat late at a black out.

From what I've seen from my sro spot at certain shows people are allowed to wait at the back of the house, this goes for BOM and Matilda at least. I know at the American Airlines and NY City Center you have to wait in the lobby/outside the auditorium door and you can watch on a screen.

Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.

Out of curiosity, do the shows where you watch on a screen record those performances, or is it just a live feed that doesn't get preserved?
