I just got back from seeing Disgraced tonight and... WOW. A thought provoking show, to say the least. I cannot reccomend it enough.

I've previously read a thread (which I couldn't find) in which a poster said the first two scenes were not needed because they didn't add anything to the show.

*SPOILERS (I warned ya!Disgraced Review *SPOILERS and QUESTIONS*)
The opening scene opens us to his view on Islam and the idea that it is instilled in him (we also see the "spit" later on in the show). But, then in the second scene we see that he hasn't slept with his wife in 3 months. Later on in Scene 3 we learn that this is an Islamic punishment toward their women. I think this shows and explains his conflict since his viewing of the Imam's case. He is following these instilled beliefs and that is eating him up.
Personally, I found Mol's character the least sympathetic, but they all did an amazing job and I look forward to seeing/reading future works by the playwright.

Also, can someone PM, or even explain on here, what he meant by having "Pride" in the 9/11 attacks? Is it face value, or something I missed.

SPOILER ALERT:

He was "proud" of 9/11 in the sense that Muslims "fought back" and that as much as he tries to detach himself from Islam, he still strongly, though perhaps involuntarily, identifies with the culture/group and, at least partly, sees the US as the villain. At the same time, he realizes that 9/11 isn't something to be proud about, so it's kind of a guilty pride. He brings it up to show how strongly certain beliefs are rooted in him, even though he possibly wishes they weren't.
