I will be traveling to London in October. What's new and hot on the West End? I have seen most shows on Broadway, but haven't been to the West End since Ghost and the Wizard of Oz opened. Thanks!

check out whatsonstage.com
But, hot and new on the West End should be Miss Saigon, Curious Incident and Shakespeare in Love. (However, Curious will be on Broadway in October - and there was a version streamed to theatres)
Opening soon and should be playing in October will be the transfers of Great Britain (Sept 10), Sunny Afternoon (October 4) and King Charles III (opens September 2). Each were well received at The National,Hampstead and Almeida respectively and could be hot tickets. (I saw the first two, and not the third)

and also theatreforum.com for another discussion board and theatremonkey.com for seating recommendations, day seat information and discount information.

When In October?
London Theatre.co.uk has a list of openings.
If you get to catch Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies then see that - it is the must have pair of tickets!
Curious is great too, but likle ggersten said, you can also catch that on Broadway.

If you are a fan of Matilda you may like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I personally think it is a bit gimmicky and the first act drags.

Urinetown at the Apollo (opens Sept) will be good - it had great reviews in it's off West End run at the St James Theatre and has a good cast.

Memphis also opens soon, if you like that sort of thing?

Well I found this cool infographic about which shows are the most popular and which show broke the world record for ticket sales in a week, not too much of a surprise but pretty cool nonetheless!

So, BayareaBWFan, what did you end up seeing? (if you've made your trip)
If you haven't gone, there has been some good word on "Made in Dagenham" now in previews; Love Story over at the tiny Union Theatre (through October 25).
"The Play That Goes Wrong" can be had relatively inexpensively and is very very funny.
Scottsboro Boys just started previews at the Garrick and has good word of mouth.
