Hi! I'm trying to decide which show to see next Thursday, 7/17 on the West End. Deciding between:

The Curious Incident...
Miss Saigon
The Pajama Game

I'm already going to see 1984 on Saturday, so I'm inclined to see a musical. However, I heard Curious Incident is fantastic and that the West End plays this time of year are much stronger than the musicals. I make it to NYC often to see theater and I understand Curious Incident will be there in the fall, but it would be fun to see it before my friends, if you all think it's worth it. I really appreciate your help!!

Curious incident is excellent.
Pajama game cast is better than the material and Miss Saigon for me its not a great production, though is worth seeing for Jon Jon.

Are you planning to dayseat?

It's always hard to recommend to people as your personal tastes could be quite different to the tastes of those who do the recommending lol

Even the tastes of those making recommendations will differ. For example, I thought the new production of Miss Saigon was utterly fantastic with a collection of stunning lead performances and would say do not miss it under any circumstances! (Though Pajama Game is also a great production of a totally different style of show and the performances are from the top drawer. I have not seen Curious Incident yet so cannot comment.)

Are ticket prices a concern for you? In the past, you have been able to pick up really good seats for dayseat prices at Pajama Game even close to curtain. Miss Saigon is tougher to get but has day seats - and there are reports of getting dayseat prices later in the day - but don't know how accurate that will be on that day. Curious Incident is going to be a tough ticket - and with the way the stage is, you don't want to be too close where dayseats may be.

So with that - try for Book of Mormon lottery and if you don't win, go see Let The Right One In. Easier to get a ticket. Amazing show that you may not have a chance to see any other time. Curious will play in London for a while - and I expect the Broadway version to be excellent. (I did like the prior cast at the Apollo better). Miss Saigon really is worth it for JonJon's performance as the Engineer - but the show will be there for months and months. For me, Miss Saigon is spectacular and if you want spectacle, then go for it. I enjoyed Pajama Game for the most part, but its not a show I rave about. If you want a different musical option, I'd go for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as I think Robert Lindsay still is there on 7/17.

I also vote for Let the Right One In if a play is OK. I'm in the camp of great performances at Miss Saigon but meh for the musical.

I enjoyed both Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Pajama Game. Pajama Game day seats are in the front row but the stage is low enough to be good views for adults. The front row seats at Dirty Rotten are sold at a discount but the stage is higher so seats a bit farther back might be better for folks under about 6'. I've never liked sitting in the rear stall rows at the Savoy so let that also help you select seats if that's your choice.

Enjoy and let us know what you picked and how you liked it.

The Pajama Game front row dayseats have no leg room - if you're over 5'9", you are going to be squeezed tight -but the box office has been known to give you other seats for dayseat price further back.
Let The Right One In dayseats are front row and the stage is eyelevel. Pretty great. And the box office may discount other seats.

Based on these 3 options I'd say go Saigon but only because the sensational Curious is NYC bound and TPG bored the pants off me. Have you looked at Shakespeare In Love? Haven't been myself yet but the word on it is stellar.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I decided to get tickets to Miss Saigon. I found great seats for a decent price and the show looks quite epic. I'm hoping this paired with 1984 will provide us a diverse and spectacular West End experience.
