Since Paige is going out on the road with the show, I am sure the producers wanted to get her seasoned in the role while it is still open on Broadway. Quite of a few productions have done this before.
Cinderella was one of the best shows I've ever seen! It was So magical. Fran Drescher was PERFECT as the Stepmother. They really could have opened the show with her.
Sadly, despite being a great actress and dancer, Carly Rae Jepson was really wrong for Cinderella. Her voice was a roller coaster: Classic, pop, classical, pop over and over again. :| Her voice was really weak during Its Possible, despite it being the most classical-sounding. Her In MyOwn Little Corner was WAY WAY too popish. She was also straining so much that you saw her veins. It's really disappointing that she extended because I could have seen Paige. Overall, Carly was GOOD, but needs a lot more classical training. I really wish we saw this last year with Laura.
The others were fantastic. I love how the actress played Gabrielle really nerdy because Gabby was what you expected as a ugly stepsister, but only nice! Victoria and Joe were wonderful as well. I loved the new book, but it can be too "in your face" with the moral of the story and the revoluntary talk.
Carly and Fran were so gracious and lovely at the stagedoor! But the most NICEST person at the stage door and now EVER was Victoria Clarke. She was so warm and sweet and we had a conversation about singing (because I told her she reminded of my teacher).
Bottom line: Defientely see Cinderella! Esepecially with Fran, but wait for Paige or Jessica.

Like the above poster said, did you see the OBC, especially Harriet Harris? Because she was absolutely fantastic.
I agree with the above posts that Harriet Harris was fantastic. She put a lot of thought into justifying her character's actions, which she talks about in various interviews. I thought Fran was more of a caricature of a mean stepmother with much less depth than Harriet.
I'm excited to see these actresses step into the show! I wonder, though, if they'll put the score back to the original arrangements/keys that Laura sang. I hope so, since I'm sure Paige would be fully capable of singing the original harmonies.
To the two people who asked me if I saw it with the OBC, sadly no.
I really wanted to see it last year w/ Matilda, but my parents were dying to see Newsies and I didn't know if my parents would like Matilda because of child abuse (And to my shock, they loved Matilda), so I gave in and took them. And of course, when they finally decided to go, so we could see Laura and Santino before they left, the snow storms happened. So, one day we would plan it, OOPS. Snow. And this happened again and again. And that one day I told them to go because I had a feeling it wouldn't snow, they planned all of the major appointments that day. And of course, it didn't snow. -_____-
And actually, we did try to go in January, but our car's deheater froze on the way there and we couldn't see a thing, so we had to turn back. I'm grateful they tried, though.
So, my answer: Sadly, no. I would have loved to see Harriet, Laura and Santino. They were just perfect, UGH.
