We have been getting discount tickets at the Discount Booth at Picadilly Circus. Guy there is very helpful and we've gotten some good deals combined with using day tickets. But, we've not tried the TKTS booth in Leicester Square. I'm curious whether TKTS is a good enough deal in London or whether it is similar to New York where the best seats/deals are in the last ten minutes before a show starts. The website selection doesn't seem to have really good prices on the really popular shows.
I recommend London Theatre Bookings. They have lots of shops located in both Covent Garden and Leicester Square (also one outside Baker Street tube station). They offer fantastic deals on shows also great service (I do not work for them) but I always buy tickets from them or directly from the theatre.
London Theatre Bookings is the booth at Picadilly we frequent. I was just curious about people's experiences with TKTS. I'm just lucky that I'm working from my flat for a US company so I'm able to get out to pick up day tickets occasionally ince it's outside of company hours! The day tickets for The Weir were really really good.
I have only ever used TKTS in Leicester Square when booking discounted shows. I have used them for years and they used to only sell top price seats from front to back stalls on a first come first served basis and I often got front row seats, which I loved. However, in recent years they offer more seats at different prices and I've not had such good seats of late so maybe they do hold back the best to the end now.
Tend to use the shop by the Hippodrome called London Theatre Bookings... TKTS customer service is always slow and boring. They all have the same prices I find usually
So tell me more about these kiosks people are using, I have always suspected them to be scalpels, but reading on here is changing my opinion, what shows do they have for sale? How much discounts do they offer?
Anything Goes, I take it you use the kiosk opposite the Hippodrome, next to the fish and chip shop?
no, the one actually part of the hippodrome. the one opposite by the cafe are so rude
The majority are legit agents. I believe most are run by Lodon Theatre Bookings who have been around for years and are trusted.
I think a few touts still survive but no where have the glory days they enjoyed in the 80s and early 90s... those people raked it in, I can remember many funny stories of how Cameron Mackintosh used them in the 80s!
