I am seeing the Little Me matinee on Saturday. I was wondering if performers in Encores shows come out after the shows to sign? Also, has anyone had prior stage door experiences with Christian Borle? He is a big inspiration to me, and I'd love to meet him and get a picture. I know he doesn't have social media, so I was wondering if he liked to stage door and chat. Thanks!

Posted: 2/4/14 at 1:53pmThere's usually a talkback after the Saturday matinee of Encores shows, so if he stays for that (most of the cast often will), he might not come out the stage door between shows. However, if you still want to try, the stage door for City Center is on the 56th Street side of the building, and there's a public corridor to the left of City Center that you can use to get to the other side of the building.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Posted: 2/5/14 at 12:07amI saw the dress rehearsal Tues. night which puts me in a little different place to comment here. These actors are put though SO MUCH for an all intensive week of performances. Considering how Christian is shouldering such HUGE vocal demands for this show - as much as I admire your positive admiration of him - I would REALLY encourage you to LEAVE HIM ALONE for this one. Maybe wrong of me to say since I can't speak for him - but really, this is a pretty unique situation rather than a long run of something where performers find their balances, etc. Write him/email him or find someone who is a close friend to intercede for you. Enjoy the show. It's a demanding feat for he & Rachel.

Posted: 2/5/14 at 12:48pmforgetmenotenyc, I think your heart is in the right place, but I think Borle has been around the block enough that he knows how to avoid the stage door if he wishes to. I don't think there's anything wrong with someone waiting politely for him at the stage door with the understanding that he might not come out and that's okay.

That occurred to me after I responded. When it's an issue - than just using other doors (or staying in btwn. matinee/evening performances) is always the solution I guess. Thanks for seeing through to 'the heart' of what I was trying to express - that's what it's always all about, to me.

In case anyone wants to know/Update:
I saw Little Me at the matinee at 2pm, and in the program was a slip mentioning the talkback someone had mentioned. Right when the show ended, I went to the stagedoor rather than the talk back. The only people who did the talk back (cast wise) were Christian Borle, Rachel York, A Dancer (whose name escapes me), and Judy Kaye. It was 45 minutes, but in the 45 minutes the other principals including Harriet Harris, Tony Y., Robert C. came out. After the talk back all the cast members involved did come out and signed and took pictures, including Borle, who was a really nice guy. :)
