I haven't done rush for it, but I always pass the theatre on my way to work in the morning and there's usually at least 8-10 people lined up by about 9:00. Guess I always assumed it got busier and busier as it gets closer to 10, but after reading these other posts, maybe not so much.
"If you're not there by 7:55pm, you might not get a rush ticket."
Only too true.
I got to the BO around 11:30 last Sunday and was about 30th in line. I was shocked that I got a pair of nice (slightly obstructed) box seats...then I got to the theater and realized that it was barely half-full. I don't think I've ever seen that many available seats at a Broadway show.
As for rush for the last performance, I wouldn't count on it. If you really want to go, just buy a ticket. I already got my ticket, but I've been keeping an eye on that performance every day. It has been selling pretty fast. I've been keeping an eye on the show's ticket sales since March. I don't think I've ever seen any Bridges performance sell that fast. Even if there are rush tickets, don't count on getting good seats. They changed some of the seats that are usually regular orchestra/mezz seats into premium for that performance.
A heads up - I just got home from the box office. They said that they sold out of rush tickets for today and will no longer be offering tickets 2.5 hours before the performance.
Bummer, especially if there are empty seats. I wish they would just try to fill the house however they could, not only for the sake of those of us who can only afford rush, but also for the performers to feel the energy from a full house.
For those who have rushed, does it seem like they are holding the first row for rush? If so, do they sell the first row first and then elsewhere in the theater? I have my ticket for closing (first row mezz which they are now trying to sell as premium), but I'm hoping to rush sometime next week too. Just trying to figure out what to expect! I'm willing to sit anywhere, but of course, I would love first row!
Wait. So are they not offering rush at all anymore, or is it just offered right when the box office opens? I wanted to try to rush it the day before closing.
It makes absolutely no sense for them to not sell rush seats up until curtain. It would make sense if people were buying all the regularly priced seats, but they're not. So instead, they have a bunch of empty seats. The beginning of previews was like this too.
I rushed on a two-show day. Got on line at 8:10. I was number seven. When we went in, the line separated into matinee and evening. I was given B104 (the first row in the center) to purchase, cash or credit.

So... a 7.5 hour window to buy reduced-priced tickets is too rigid?!
"Anyone already planning on rushing for closing? Trying to figure out how early I'll need to go..."
It sounds like holding out for rush will not be a guarantee for the closing show, since that show is selling strongly. Even last week, someone here reported:
"I asked about rush for the closing performance, and the guy helping me said it's unlikely."
So, if you really want to be there for closing, you might want to just lock in your ticket earlier. Of course, you can track how it is selling on Telecharge as the show gets closer... but that will just indicate your seating choices getting worse and worse...
But we do know someone brought a front row ticket as a premium seat already, so the front row was definitely not held for rush. Right now, they are calling row O premium, so demand seems to be high...
Polka Dot2, thanks for the update. Did you buy rush tickets for tonight (Thursday's) show? If so, where did you end up sitting and what time did you get there?
"Haterobics - there is no 7.5 hr window to buy rush anymore, that was the point of the statement. Rush is only available at 10am"
Your post says they would no longer rush tickets starting 2.5 hours before the performance, and that you didn't get them later because the seats they set aside for rush had sold out. That still sounds like if their rush tickets don't sell out at 10 a.m., they would be available up until 2.5 hours before show time.
I have a seat tonight and for closing, so I'm not overly concerned about rush, but what does the 2.5 hours before performance part mean then?
I think there's been a little confusion – it used to be that 2.5 hours before the show the box office would release more rush tickets. There are no longer doing that. And there is no 7.5 hour window just go to the box office and pick up rush tickets because they are selling out early in the morning. So yes, if they don't sell out of rush tickets at 10:00 you can get then any time before the show starts (that is a 10 hr time frame for an 8pm show). But that's not realistic anymore.
Also, the comment that you posted on previously was about that person's disappointment in the reduced number of rush tickets that are now available, not the time frame itself.
I rushed this morning. I got in line at 8:30 and got partial view Orchestra Row J. There were a ton of people there but it looked like a lot people were getting tickets.
I don't think anything that happened this past weekend will have any bearing on this coming weekend, since the closing weekend is always atypical. Plus, rush is not set aside but based on availability, and the show is clearly filling up later in the week, moreso than it has been. So, if you want to see it, the earlier you go this week, the better your chances...
I got a ticket today! I think that all of the rush seats are now partial view - can anyone confirm that? The first person in line said that she got row C on the side. Guess they aren't giving out front row anymore.
Also, if you want a ticket, I would recommend getting there before 7:30. Oof.
That was me - first in line this morning! I played it super safe and got there WAY early - 5:25am. The next person didn't arrive until about 6:30. Yes, I received orchestra C far side. When I approached the window I asked where the seats were located and the box office woman indicated that they were obstructed view. I asked politely if they would be selling the first row as rush as they had done so in the past. She said that with the closing date set that it seemed unlikely. From my observations, I agree that the rush tickets seemed to be only partial view. And while there was a huge line by 10am, there were a finite number of rush tickets and many walked away or purchased regular tickets.
Polka Dot2, what time did you arrive and where are your seats?
