Joan Marcus seems like she photographs almost every single Broadway and Off-Broadway show. She is simply amazing.
Is it possible that she is contract to do almost every shows that opens between now and when the world ends? How much do you think she is paid for her work? This will be an amazing profession to think about.
She's very successful and is in high demand, but I much prefer the creativity and style of Tristram Kenton (West End) and the up-and-coming Kyle Froman (look for his Phantom photos).
Joan Marcus is married to Adrian Bryan-Brown of Boneau/Bryan-Brown, one of the premiere press agencies in the theater. While I'm not saying that's entirely responsible for her success, it certainly has helped her develop a near monopoly in working on Broadway.
That being said, I think her work is stellar and I've heard she's a lovely woman, though I'm happy to see the field becoming more diverse as of late.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Joan is definitely still top of the field, her recent PIPPIN shots are beautifully composed. (On the other hand, I'm disappointed by the usually strong Matthew Murphy's uninspired KINKY BOOTS pics, or at least the ones selected for use.)

I like Michel LePoer Trench (sp?) too. But, isn't he Cam's partner? I guess that might have had something to do with his success, although I think his photos have been stunning (although he's also had really good visual material too)!
