If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Personally, I love it when the bow music at least is included. It is always a treat when they add the exit music as well. My biggest pet peeve is when overtures go unrecorded....
I don't think the new Pippin recording had Exit Music. Sing-A-Long tracks, yes. lol. The first one that came to mind with Exit Music is the 2008 Gypsy recording with Patti LuPone. There are plenty of others, though.
I got my 2008 Gypsy CD at the theatre when I saw the show and the last track (except for the cut songs from the original production) is Rose's Turn, but last year I found Laura Benanti's final, post-Rose's Turn scene with Patti and the music that played as the curtain fell, as a professionally recorded track on tumblr. I wonder why they recorded it and didn't put it on the final CD...
I don't think there was enough room on the disc, so they released the following tracks on a bonus disc only available through Barnes and Noble.
Disc 2 1 Let Me Entertain You (scene, dialogue and underscoring) (0:48 ) 2 Miss Crachitt (dialogue lines, scenes) (0:51 ) 3 All I Need Is the Girl (musical scene change music) (0:21 ) 4 Entr'acte (2:48 ) 5 You Gotta Get a Gimmick (musical scene change music) (0:17) 6 The Strip (musical scene change music) (0:18 ) 7 Act 2 Finale (entire full scene) (2:33) 8 Exit Music (3:34) Updated On: 7/16/13 at 07:49 PM

I think the Thoroughly Modern Millie OBC also has exit music. I like when it's included, but I always want the whole show recorded as well, so there's that.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
"The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public" has the Exit Music, which is a terrific Big Band arrangement of "Change In Me". It's up there with the "City Of Angels" track linked above. "Two Gentlemen of Verona" also has the Exit Music, a very fun version of "Where's North".
Didn't they record the Beauty and the Beast cast album BEFORE they added the overture?
I believe they did, but that doesn't excuse the London cast recording, the Australian cast recording and the dozens of foreign language cast recordings that also chose let the Overture go unrecorded. It's a short Overture, but it's fun and I love how it sieges right into the Prologue. They should have preserved it.
The late 90's London "Lady In The Dark" includes the exit music, as well as the musical version of "Lend Me A Tenor," "The Goodbye Girl" and "Dessa Rose." All four are quite lovely, especially "Lady In The Dark," but I couldn't find a link.
I'm pretty sure all the extra show material on the 2008 Gypsy could have fit on one disc, but all of the cut numbers wouldn't have fit, so they opted for the cut numbers on the standard release.
