Dramamamma: are you seriously comparing this message board with the stock market? A place where millions of dollars are spent on research, and people plop down actual money with a place where people make wild speculations on the success of abarely rehearsed show? based on a thanksgiving day parade performance and a logo, and whether a girl is too pretty and a guy too ugly? wow!
Darion, if you hate it so much then why are you still in this thread? Just curious. Clearly if there is a thread for discussion of Cinderella, then people are going to...discuss Cinderella.
For most that "play" the stock market? Yes, I am comparing it. But here, those of us speculating don't stand to lose anything but a little face if/when we are wrong.
You make it sound like we shouldn't even discuss the possible future -- of this or our favorite sports team or movie franchise or ANYTHING. I've been talking about the Pats game before we even knew who they were playing. SO WHAT!? It's fun to discuss it!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
But before you decided to school us on how wrong we were, people WERE discussing the show. Now we are discussing you. YOU seemed to think you should be able to control what was being discussed, therefore, Kelly is in no way out of line.

I don't know how many times I have to say this I'm not saying you can't be critical I'm just saying you should have some facts on why you're criticizing it otherwise you look foolish . Anyway I'm done. It was a fun discussion Updated On: 1/8/13 at 06:47 PM
I think that people making predictions on the success of this show reminds me of how political pundits predict the outcome of the election. It's fun to make predictions based on who's in it and on costumes. I'm just wary of people who declare large amounts of confidence in their predictions based on VERY LITTLE DATA.
The show may flop horribly. Given the risky nature of Broadway, it's actually pretty likely. But I'll wait until the show opens and see what its box office numbers look like. I wish this production the best.
To whom do they look foolish? YOU? Who cares? It's a CONVERSATION. Folks putting in their two cents about what they think will happen. This isn't a round table or the NY Times.
I don't have an opinion as to the success of this show. But I do enjoy hearing what other people think.

I too am looking forward to seeing it and wish the production well. I love that DCB wrote the book in a way that emphasizes kindness. How novel, in this day and age. I think that parents will be eager to take their children to a show that does this. I think that, if it is done well, a show that leaves the audience feeling uplifted and humming a R&H tune as they leave the theater will do very well.
