Oh, dear. Did Musto just cut-and-paste an old BWW summer thread? God, that article was less funny than the annual thread here pretending it's a funny topic...again...and again...and again...

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Still pissed that Xanadu got the stage treatment and almost nobody has heard of this thing. It blows Xanadu out of the water and out-camps Rocky Horror. The soundtrack alone is the reason I still had my parents' record player in working condition until a few years ago. "The power of rock...in 1994!" is an awesome tagline for a movie written when disco was still a thing. Last I looked it's on Netflix Instant, and you can check out the trailer if you're piqued: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BY9cvgrP1c
The Apple is fun in its own way, but I feel like it's a bit too much like "Phantom of the Paradise," in a "only one can survive" kind of way. And with "Paradise" already being eerily close to "Rocky Horror," that just makes "The Apple" even more expendable to me.
