The UK tour of 'Hair' is in trouble as its German producers seek bankruptcy. Theatres on the tour have been informed that a last minute rescue may come from a UK producer!
It flopped in the West End the guidance of Mr Mackintosh, what made them thin it would work around the provinces. Not even seeing Gareth Gates's willie would have got me to see this!
Wasnt he going to be Claude, so we'd have seen him dead rather than naked. It was an original Billy Elliot who would have had his bits out. Which just seems wrong however old they are now.
Gareth was cast as Claude, so none of his bits on display!
Going from the cast on twitter, they are hoping that there will be a deal, but anxious all the same. It must be really horrible for them to make plans for going on tour, for it all to fall through before they've started.
I read something about Kenwright elsewhere, but I don't know if that's a guess or based on what is actually happening. I hope they sort something out, because I got tickets for Glasgow AND Edinburgh!
Also going by twitter, Zoe claimed to be doing a whole load of photos shoots and interviews this week to be going out in the future, so promotion hadn't even started properly.

The upcoming tour of Hair starring Gareth Gates has been cancelled after its producers filed for bankruptcy, according to a statement released by the show’s general managers.
The production, which was also due to feature Zoe Birkett and Amy Diamond, was due to open at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on April 10th and tour to venues including Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre and Manchester Opera House.
A statement issued by the Booking Office, the general managers of the show, reads: “We would like to make it clear the sole reason for the cancellation of the UK tour was that the producers, EJB Entertainment, filed for bankruptcy and therefore they were not in a position to fulfil their responsibilities. Whilst every effort was made to secure another producer, sadly it was to no avail. All the cast, their agents and ancillary companies working on the production remained, until the end, 100% committed to the UK tour of Hair.”
An earlier statement said that “the producers would like to apologise to the many fans of this iconic show who had been greatly excited by its planned revival”. The production was due to be directed and choreographed by Gary Lloyd, who directed Thriller Live. It was to be produced by EJB Entertainment and Charles Aerts Entertainment in association with The Booking Office.
