Heritage Players, Inc. presents composer/lyricist Jason Robert Browns hit Musical Revue, “Songs For A New World”, opening March 18th at Rice Auditorium in Catonsville. This gripping revue is about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” Local director, Audra Mains transports her audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue to meet a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage. These are the stories and characters of today, the songs for a new world.
Heritage Players, a philanthropic as well as theatrical presence in Catonsville for over ten years, will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the show to the Night of Peace Family Shelter (www.nightofpeace.com), a faith community resource serving homeless families in Baltimore County, Maryland. A portion of the proceeds will also go to the Spring Grove Hospital Patient Fund. Performances are March 18,19,25,26 & April 1, 2 at 8pm and March 27 & April 3 at 2pm at Rice Auditorium, Spring Grove Hospital Campus, Catonsville.
