After seeing the clips of Nicole in Rent, does anyone else think she'd make a fantastic Anita? Shes a fierce dancer, she's got a great voice, and I think she'd act the hell out of it and would be wonderful in the part.
And I think she'd make a fantastic Imelda Marcos in a fully realized version of the David Byrne concept, Here Lies Love. Her voice fits perfectly with the disco/dance-based score and she looks the part.
I don't remember anyone asking about her personality. I'm pretty sure this is a thread about what roles Nicole would do well in.
kchenofan's computer is broken right now. This is her fridge. Now, you can leave a message, but say it slowly, so I can write it on a post-it note and stick it to myself.
I think she would sing and act Anita very well and certainly dance it better than the current (when she's there actress in the role) But I still prefer a classically trained dancer in that part.
I too prefer a classically trained dancer in WSS. You simply cannot fake the Robbins work. I realize Olivo won a TONY doing that but I think most people agree that her dancing is not up to par. When Nicole learned to dance on DWTS, she learned choreography, not technique.
After seeing her clip from rent, and seeing her on DWTS, I really feel like she has a career in musicals.
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
She went to a performing arts high school and if I am not mistaken majored in Theatre and minored in Dance. She played Velma in Chicago in college. (I am actually suprised they have not tried that stunt cast yet)
I just don't like her at all so I really would not want to see this happen.
backwoodsbarbie- She did not learn to dance like the others. She was dancer dancing outside of her normal medium.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
Karen Olivo said on her FB fan page that she's returning to WSS the second week of September, though I guess without a confirmation from Playbill or whatever it's probably not official. What's with all this "other actress" stuff, though? When did Karen become the Actress Who Must Not Be Named?
On the subject of the thread: I know Nicole Scherzinger got good reviews for the Hollywood Bowl RENT and whatever, but DWTS didn't endear her to me much and I would NOT trust her to act Anita.
Nicole has been trained her entire life as a dancer. She didn't "learn" to dance on DWTS, she just went there to DANCE.
I find it funny that just because she became a pop star first people tend to seriously doubt her. But honestly if you were on a path towards a theatre career (as she was) and then became a HUGE star, which would you choose? She is only living the dream that she's been granted. That doesn't mean she still doesnt have the training to back it up, she does.
Now all I see are cute boys with short haircuts in a maze of their own...
Once PCD craps the bed forever (which will be soon), Nicole will be all over Broadway. Look out, she's coming. She is a true triple threat and you've barely seen what she is capable of. Oh, and she busted her a@# for years before she became a pop star, so anyone who pipes up with the stunt casting baloney is gotta get a fat lip. I guarantee she'd have a better record than Olivo who missed a ton of ITH shows as well.

"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
Uhhh... I mean, don't hold back, now. Tell us how you really feel.
I suppose I could threaten to give anyone who craps on Karen O. a fat lip, but I've not yet been (classically?) trained in how to deliver a punch online.
