Somewhere Julie Taymor is trying to smile.

Oh, who are we kidding? She's on the phone with Dave Matthews talking about her latest "incredible idea," a dog-eared copy of THE HOBBIT nearby.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. Will re-open in Las Vegas. Hopefully they will shorten it. When I saw it it just felt like it went on and on and on.

Well....it's official. Doubt it'll work in Vegas, either.

I think that 67% recoupment is a fair estimate otherwise it wouldn't be planning a second production in Vegas.

To get the figure I just took the reported grosses (downloaded from BWW), subtracted a 1M per week running cost, and took a percentage from the original 75M.

A friend of mine who is an actor got offered a job on Spiderman, but at the time he got offered another job working as a wrestler on the WWF circuit, he picked the later, as there was less chance of getting injured.

I will be surprised if this makes it to Vegas. It's like when flops announce national tours that won't happen. Except Spider-Man obviously cannot tour, so they are going the Vegas route.

You're way off base, as you are simply assuming this floating 75M figure is accurate. There is no telling how much that could have increased since last reported. Furthermore, the weekly nut -- which has never been confirmed -- does not include some of the fees and royalties that must be paid.

There is absolutely no way they are at 67%.

I'm assuming "King Kong" or "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" will take the Foxwoods.

I actually really enjoyed this show and I'm sad for the actors and crew!

They have NOT netted 67% of the final capitalization.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Personally, I would rather have a revival of Miss Saigon play at the Foxwoods.

I literally just finished the Song of Spider-Man book this morning, and came away really hopeful that despite everything, they could somehow make this a long-running show. No one goes into a project of this magnitude hoping it'll fail, so I do hope with all the research down, it'll have a life beyond Broadway with the tweaks they always wanted to put in down the road.

The investors got a gift that it played this long. They should get more of their $$ back from the Vegas run.

Charlie likely will not come to Broadway until late 2015 at the earliest since Sam Mendes is busy with different projects in particular the next Bond film. I think the Foxwoods or Broadway is the most likely theatre for it although I imagine it depends what's available.

I wouldn't be surprised if Miss Saigon makes a return although I imagine not until 2015 or 2016, I imagine Cameron Mackintosh will see how the London revival is received before bringing it to Broadway, Updated On: 11/18/13 at 10:53 PM

75 mil was a pretty early figure....it was then stated they broke 85 mil, and then rumors flew that the real number was even higher.

Also, the figure to break even was more like 1.2 mil; although a poster said that more recently, they had re-negotiated a few things which brought their nut down to 1 mil. (I cannot substantiate any of that as anything other than hearsay.)

I'd guess MAYBE they got 50% return. And what suckers could they get to give them MORE money to get a Vegas production going?

Congratulations to Michael Cohl who has the dubious distinction of having the biggest flop in West End history with The Lord of the Rings and now the biggest flop in Broadway history with this.

Congratulations to Bono & The Edge for their triumphant score and all the major radio hits it produced and for successfully demonstrating how to publicly stab your collaborators in the back. Better to close now than make 1dollar profit that might have to go toward the settlement with Taymor.

Trying to squeeze out an opinion either way, but I simply can't. This show was not made for Broadway, but rather, the tourist trade that occasionally patronizes Broadway. Which is to say, it is perfectly set for Las Vegas!

Enjoy, Mandalay Hotel!

"Just ran some numbers. Assuming a weekly cost of 1M (which I've read a number of times), as of last week spiderman has netted $50,015,743 (based of a total Gross of $203,015,743).

I mean, based on how expensive it is to run each week, the fact that they've grossed after running costs just over 50M is actually quite impressive. Obviously they're still not near the original investment, but the amount they've made back thus far isn't terrible (67%). I feel like this could have a life somewhere after Broadway.

Mind you, I haven't actually seen it so I'm going based off it's commercial appeal and what I've read."

Do you really think that you, a teen (if your avatar is you) should be posting about recoupment, of which you know nothing? Really, it's chutzpah or something else of the highest order :) Only on the Internet. The producers of this thing are never going to say how much they did or did not get back to the investors. My guess? 0.
