Sorry to be one of the many that probably come on here and ask about "what to see", but, I am taking a weekend trip up to NYC this coming Thanksgiving weekend and I'm just looking for some opinions on what to see. I am leaving Friday and seeing If/Then and staying the night in DC on Friday and heading to NYC early in the morning in time to get a matinee show in. So, will have time for a matinee and an evening show on Saturday. Then seeing Little Miss Sunshine on Sunday. But, anyways ... I am trying to decide on what two shows to see Saturday and would love some input. Right now it looks like my main interests are Big Fish, Pippin, and Matilda. Are there any others that I should be considering?? Thanks for any input!!
Matilda and Pippen are amazing! Heard good things about Big Fish. Have you seen Newsies? That is good too and easier to get seats. Nothing else is great at the moment.
If you see a play, go see The Glass Menageire or Betrayal if you're there in time for the latter and tickets are available. But go see Big Fish, Pippin, or Matilda if you can!! Pippin and Matilda were some of the best nights I've ever had in the theatre. :)
Definitely Pippin and Matilda. Didn't like Big Fish that much, but I absolutely love Pippin/Matilda. Both are some of the best shows I've seen in a while.
I would rank the shows in this order: Glass Menagerie Pippin Kinky Boots Matilda
Remember: Thanksgiving Weekend is a huge weekend in NY and on B'way -- don't wait too long to decide and get your tickets. Are you planning on booking a hotel? It's going to cost you on that weekend. (And don't wait too much longer to do that, too!)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Definitely go see "Pippin". Also, I'd like to recommend my favorite show: "Chicago." RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I just returned from a weekend trip to NYC to see 5 shows. Based on that I recommend seeing: * Kinky Boots * Pippin * The Winslow Boy (Play)
Yes, the Winslow Boy is long - but I found the comedic timing to be perfect and most of the actors' performances were engaging and all-around excellent.
"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one".

Adding either of the Shakespeare's Globe productions to the list of must-sees: Richard III or Twelfth Night.
And A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder is a charming chamber musical. Not many people on the board know it yet, but I saw it in Hartford last year, and I predict a lot of people will like and/or love it. If you can't get into all of the hard-to-get tickets you're looking at, you can easily find discounted seats.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the responses!! I luckily will have a free place to stay in the city, so that cuts down majorly on my costs! I am not one to completely avoid anything. Right now it's looking like we are going to probably try our luck at rush for Pippin and if we get tickets that way, it will kind of change up what else we see. I'm hoping for tickets to the Pippin matinee and then thinking about forgoing a Broadway show that evening and seeing Sleep No More (since it's their last weekend) at one of the earlier times followed by seeing Fuerza Bruta at the 10pm show. Still going back and forth with deciding, and haven't totally gotten my plans together with what my friend that is going with me wants to see, so ... all of the opinions on what to see are greatly appreciated!! Now, if you could already be time for my trip ... that would be great!!
