I'm really happy you guys are discovering this score. It's one of the classics.
Can't wait to hear this new recording, P.S. Classics always puts out such great recordings. Sound quality, breadth of material, packaging - aces all the way.
Is this the first time they've released digitally before shipping the pre-orders? I know that's how most labels do it now but PSClassics usually seems to favor their physical media customers with their pre-orders often shipping weeks before the CD hits store shelves and iTunes. I already feel a little wounded having to pre-order twice because of their delays and postponement of the initial release date and now it's up digitally before my CD has shipped? Am I the only one who's a tiny bit put off by this? I know Tommy was ill so I'll just be thankful that he seems to be doing better now and happy that people are enjoying the score as I camp out next to my mail box.
Amazon has the full album up for digital download and for only 11.99 compared to the itunes 13.99 but the amazon download does not include the digital booklet.
A search for "label:ps_classics" (yay advanced spotifying) shows that both XANADU and FUN HOME are on Spotify under the PS Classics label, so there is some precedent.
Granted, I had looked for FUN HOME before so it only went up recently. Maybe ON THE TOWN will be on there by the end of the year...
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
It's a fantastic recording, maybe one of the best of the (now five) recordings of the show I have. ljay889, I noticed my iTunes copy doing some skipping and thought it was just me.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
I'm hoping the actual CDs don't have that skipping issue. I've seen reviews on iTunes from people complaining about it. PSClassics has not been on their A game with this release, all the delays and now this.
According to PS CLassics Facebook page, there were technical issues with the iTunes release, and they have all been corrected. This recording is really stellar.
My digital copy skips during Times Square Ballet... Where are other people noticing skipping? Other than the skipping this is a stellar cast recording. My physical copy arrived yesterday, and it is beautifully packaged.
