America's oldest little theater in continuous existence, The Vagabond Players, celebrate its 94th anniversary with an upcoming season that celebrates the family, whether it's family by birth or family by choice.

Kicking off the season on September 4 is the award-winning A. R. Gurney play, THE COCKTAIL HOUR, directed by Roy Hammond. The story of a writer looking for his uptight family's approval of the play he has written about them, THE COCKTAIL HOUR is alternately touching and deliciously funny. THE COCKTAIL HOUR runs thru September 27.

Moving from upper crust civility to down home hilarity, CHRISTMAS BELLES introduces us to the three Futrelle sisters, Frankie, Twink and Honey Raye. Coping with everything from hot flashes to an Elvis impersonator to a surly Santa, the wacky, squabbling sisters still manage to successfully produce the town's annual Christmas festival. Written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, and directed by John W. Ford, CHRISTMAS BELLES runs October 23 to November 22 and will give an early lift to your spirits just in time for the coming holiday season.

On January 8, the musical, MAN OF LA MANCHA, starts off the New Year. Written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darien, and under the direction of Eric Potter, the story of Don Quixote's quest for the impossible dream won six Tony Awards in 1965. This classic Broadway musical will be presented through February 7.

From February 26 until March 28, the Vags stage is transformed into a farm in a small rural Canadian town. A young actor researching a new play becomes obsessed by the close relationship of two middle-aged farmers in the sometimes tough, sometimes hilarious THE DRAWER BOY by Michael Healy. Michael B. Zemeral directs this award-winning 1999 play.

And on April 16, the newly-renovated Vags' stage once again becomes the setting for a Neil Simon play: BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, directed by Steve Goldklang. Exploring the unbelievable, fantastic and completely private thoughts of one Eugene Morris Jerome (as recounted by Eugene Morris Jerome), BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS runs through May 16.

Closing the 94th season is the area premiere of THE WAITING ROOM, written by Samm-Art Williams and directed by Amini Courts. As the Innes family gathers in the waiting room of a North Carolina hospital to learn the fate of their patriarch, a shocking family secret is revealed which changes their lives forever. THE WAITING ROOM opens June 4 and runs through June 27.
