The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Farmer wants a wife, Dating in the Dark...Australia loves a dating TV show, and now Pursued by Bear are giving Melbourne audiences a chance to experience one better - a dating musical.

The hilarious Broadway musical First Date is coming to Melbourne this September for its professional Australian premiere with the setting being updated from Lower Manhattan to the heart of Melbourne's north side.

Proudly supported by the City of Stonnington, this is a hilarious musical comedy for anyone who is looking for love, has found love or just wants to laugh at love.

Aaron is a "blind date virgin," while Casey has been on more than her fair share. When the two are set up by a mutual friend, sparks fly-or do they?

The night unfolds over the course of this couple's often cringe-worthy first date, and it's not without its share of surprises in the form of imaginary visits from Aaron's ex-girlfriend, Casey's uptight sister, the pair's over-protective parents and even their future son!

Google background checks, awkward pauses and bailouts are all there during this unforgettable first encounter between two romantics, who just might be perfect for each other. Or not.

Pursued by Bear have assembled an incredible cast to bring this story to life led by Rebecca Hetherington (Heathers) and Jordon Mahar (Einstein: Master of the Universe).

Rounding out the cast are Nicole Melloy (Jersey Boys), Danielle O'Malley (South Pacific), Adam Porter (The Marriage of Figaro), Stephen Valeri (Peppa Pig Live!) and Daniel Cosgrove (Dogfight).

Directed by Mark Taylor, First Date plays at Chapel Off Chapel from 2 - 11 September for

nine shows only. Tickets from chapeloffchapel.com.au
