Between Brexit, Trump, and the death of all of our idols, 2016 is not likely to be remembered fondly. Except by Melbourne comedian, Paul Culliver.

Culliver's year began with taking out the Best Comedy award at Fringe World, continued with a prime-time presenter role on ABC Radio, and finished off with a sold out season at Melbourne Fringe. 2017 is already looking pretty good, with two shows set to descend on Perth this Jan/Feb.

Paul Culliver's star is clearly on the rise. His "wicked intellectual depth" (Herald Sun) has only gotten sharper from his experiences of touring and working inside the media at 774 ABC Melbourne and ABC Victoria. The Honeypot and Paul Culliver Controls The Media are perfect vehicles for his particular brand of intelligent and witty Paul-McDermott-meets-Wil-Anderson comedic social commentary.

The Honeypot is an hour-long, tongue in cheek investigation into privilege. It plumbs the darkest depths of straight-white-male experience. From hung parliaments to anti-vaxxers and back again, this is a show that is current, informed, irreverent, acerbic and unmissable.

"In creating this show, I wanted to be able to talk about all different kinds of diversity in society, but that's not something I was going to get away with easily. I realised that exploring all those things through the prism of my own privilege was the loophole I needed." says Culliver, "Both in my work, and my life, I am on a quest to become the least problematic straight white middle class man that I can be. At least that's what I'll say if anyone asks", he says, semi seriously.

Culliver's innate understanding of news and current affairs often sees him behind the microphone on ABC and across his podcast network, Mammoth Audio. His critically lauded panel-show, Paul Culliver Controls The Media features a star-studded line-up of guests to discuss, dissect and disparage the latest news in a winner-takes-nothing-but-glory game show. Previous guests have included Dave Callan, Tegan Higginbotham and Dilruk Jayasinha.

This will be Perth's final chance to catch this The Honeypot, and only opportunity to catch Paul Culliver Controls The Media. Given Culliver's track record, bookings are highly advisable.
