Widely considered one of the best stage thrillers of all time, Deathtrap is a clever cat-and-mouse play that will have Sydney audiences on the edge of their seats. Broadway's longest running comedy-thriller is at Eternity Playhouse from 10 April to 10 May.

From Ira Levin, author of The Stepford Wives, Rosemary's Baby and The Boys from Brazil, Deathtrap is a flawlessly constructed classic. It twists and turns with fiendish artistry, keeping the tension ramped up to breaking point.

Celebrated playwright Sidney Bruhl is in the grip of chronic writer's block. With another flop on his hands he's running out of inspiration - and cash. When a young writer sends Sidney the script for his brilliant new whodunit, Sidney devises a plan to claim it as his own.

Directed by Jo Turner (The Graduate, Macbeth Undone), the cast includes veteran actor Andrew McFarlane (Devil's Playground, Love Child), Sophie Gregg (Miss Julie, Rake), Timothy Dashwood (The Graduate, Managing Carmen), Georgina Symes (Every Second, Fresh Blood) and Drew Fairley (Bangers and Mash, The Unspeakable Itch).

Turner is thrilled to have a cast of fabulously talented performers to weave their way through this classic of its genre. "They will shock, frighten, maybe horrify, but mostly entertain," he said.

"Deathtrap is guaranteed to have audiences jumping out of their seats in fright. But it's also a comedy. Sharp, witty, and brilliantly self-referential. The comedy lowers your guard just enough to make you jump higher. Horror and hilarity in equal measure," Turner added.
