The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance announces the 2014-2015 Season! The five-performance Subscription Series offers an ambitious breadth of work including a landmark drama of the American Theatre canon, an inspiring musical, and a bold, new play created in collaboration with a nationally renowned theatre company.

"We are delighted to invite you to join us for our dynamic 2014/15 season," shares Brant Pope, chairman of the Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Texas at Austin. "The season is anchored by two well known offerings; Tennessee Williams' classic A Streetcar Named Desire and the pop culture musical phenomenon, Fame The Musical. Added to this is an award-winning adaptation of the popular children's book Esperanza Rising and the Dance Repertory Theatre production of MOVE!, featuring cutting edge choreography of New York-based artists. Finally, in keeping with our commitment to create and produce new work, we have teamed with founding members of the famed Theatre de la Jeune Lune to produce the premiere of The Blue Angel, a multi-media stage adaptation of the film that brought Marlene Dietrich to worldwide celebrity."

Additional non-subscription season highlights include the presentation of The Method Gun by the Rude Mechs, the Department of Theatre and Dance's resident theatre company. The recipient of many "best of" awards, The Method Gun has toured to 12 cities, including Brisbane, Australia, and is now returning to its 'home' for Austin audiences. Also returning to the stage is Dance Repertory Theatre's annual concert Fall For Dance; the premiere of Diana Lynn Small's play Enter a Woman, Pretty Enough; UTNT (UT New Theatre), curated by nationally renowned playwright Steven Dietz; and the Cohen New Works Festival, presented by Broadway Back. An audience favorite, the Festival offers over 30 plays, dances, and exhibits to more than 8,000 patrons in five days.

Tickets for the department's five-performance Subscription Series are on sale beginning August 6 at JoinTheDrama.org, or by calling (512) 471-4454. Subscription Packages range in price from $48 to $100. In addition to saving 20% off ticket prices for season performances, subscribers enjoy preferred seating and free and easy ticket exchanges.

Individual tickets for The Method Gun go on sale August 6, and all other performances go on sale September 3 at authorized ticket outlets, which include the Bass Concert Hall Box Office, most H-E-B stores and all Texas Box Office outlets, online at JoinTheDrama.org, or by calling (512) 477-6060 or (800) 982-BEVO (2386).
